How to Enable Billing Address in Sparkforge Ecommerce Checkout

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Open the Store Builder, edit the Checkout element, and toggle Enable Billing Address ON under Form Options. Customize the section labels, save, and publish.

The Billing Address feature in Sparkforge Ecommerce lets you collect billing information separately from shipping at checkout. Captured data flows into Contacts, Customer Access Center (CAS), order confirmation emails, and packing slips.

What it does

Adds a dedicated Billing Details section to the checkout page with a Same as Shipping Address checkbox checked by default. When customers fill in a different billing address, that data is stored on the contact and surfaced everywhere order details appear.

How to enable it

  1. Open the Store Builder and navigate to your Checkout Page.
  2. Click the Checkout element to open its settings.
  3. Scroll to Advanced > Form Options.
  4. Toggle Enable Billing Address to ON.
  5. Switch to the General section to customize:
    • Billing Address Headline Text (default: "Billing Information")
    • Billing Address Checkbox Text (default: "Same as Shipping Address")
  6. Click Save and publish your changes.

New checkout page structure

Once enabled, the checkout flow is:

  1. Contact Details
  2. Shipping Details
  3. Billing Details (new)
  4. Notes
  5. Shipping Options
  6. Payment Methods

Where billing address data shows up

  • Order Details: billing address appears under Customer Info, separate from shipping.
  • CAS: billing address is included in the customer's Order Details view.
  • Contacts: both addresses are stored on the contact record.
  • Packing slips and thank-you pages: both addresses display.
  • Order confirmation emails: billing address is included automatically when filled.

Defaults and behavior

  • New stores: billing address is enabled by default. Custom fields are auto-created.
  • Existing stores: disabled by default. You must toggle it on manually.
  • Auto-generated billing fields are non-editable and non-deletable.
  • Billing address data only appears when filled in at checkout.
  • Tax calculation still uses the shipping address.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I don't want to collect a billing address?
Leave the Enable Billing Address toggle off in the Checkout element settings. The billing section won't render at checkout.
Can customers reuse their shipping address as billing?
Yes. The Same as Shipping Address checkbox is checked by default, so customers don't have to type the address twice unless billing differs.
Does billing address show up in order exports?
Yes, when the customer filled it in at checkout. Empty billing fields aren't exported.
Can I delete the auto-created billing custom fields?
No. The custom fields generated for billing address are system-protected. They cannot be edited or deleted.
Does billing address change shipping rates or taxes?
No. Sparkforge calculates shipping and taxes from the shipping address. Billing address is for invoicing and compliance only.
