Duplicate Suppression for Sparkforge Listings
Duplicate Suppression scans your directories for listings that look like the same business as your authoritative listing, then routes them through a directory-review workflow to hide or remove them. The feature supports Yext entities only.
Duplicate Suppression in Sparkforge Listings finds and removes duplicate online listings across Google, Bing, Apple Maps, and other directories. This consolidates ranking signals on your primary listing and keeps customer-facing data consistent.
Note: Duplicate Suppression supports Yext entities only. Uberall entities are not supported.
What it does
Duplicate Suppression identifies online listings that appear to represent the same business as your authoritative listing, then routes them through a directory-review workflow to hide or remove the duplicates. Cleaning up duplicates protects brand consistency, improves local SEO, and prevents customers from seeing conflicting information.
Key benefits
- Stronger local SEO. Consolidates authority to your primary, correct listing.
- Cleaner customer journey. Removes outdated or conflicting listings.
- Brand consistency. Keeps name, address, phone, and hours consistent across sites.
- Operational efficiency. Centralizes detection and actions in one dashboard.
- Status transparency. Track each candidate through the suppression lifecycle.
How duplicates are detected
- Sparkforge runs automated monthly scans against major directories to flag potential duplicates of your authoritative listing.
- Flags compare business name, address, phone (NAP), and other identifiers on publisher pages.
- Multi-location brands should confirm a candidate isn't a separate location (a nearby franchise, a previous address) before suppressing.
- If a listing is misidentified, mark it as Not a Duplicate to keep it off the list.
Statuses and lifecycle
- Possible Duplicate. A new candidate flagged by the scan; review and decide.
- Processing Suppression. You submitted suppression and the directory is reviewing.
- Suppressed. The directory removed or hid the duplicate.
- Unable to Suppress. The directory rejected the request; review the reason and try alternative cleanup.
How to use the dashboard
- Open Listings from your sub-account and go to Duplicate Suppression.
- Review each Possible Duplicate candidate alongside your authoritative listing.
- For genuine duplicates, click Suppress to submit the request to the directory.
- For misidentified items, click Mark as Not a Duplicate.
- Track each candidate through the status lifecycle until it shows Suppressed.
Tips
- Suppress in batches when a scan surfaces many candidates from the same publisher.
- Re-check Unable to Suppress items after a few weeks; directories sometimes change rules.
- Keep your authoritative listing accurate; weak source data produces noisier scans.
