Conditional Logic in Sparkforge Surveys

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Conditional Logic v2 lets you show or hide slides, display messages, redirect, disqualify, or jump between slides based on survey answers. It is available on newly created or cloned surveys only and uses a 3-step builder: Field → State → Value.

Conditional Logic v2 makes Sparkforge surveys react to answers. You can branch slides, hide questions, redirect at the end, disqualify a respondent, or display custom messages.

Scope: Conditional Logic v2 is available on newly created or cloned surveys. Existing surveys keep their original logic, and rules do not transfer through account snapshots.

What you can automate

  • Show a custom message when an answer is "No."
  • Disqualify a lead whose score falls below a threshold.
  • Redirect to a URL when a date answer falls in a range.
  • Jump to a specific slide instead of stepping through every one.

Action types

ActionEffect
Show / Hide FieldsReveal or hide questions, slides, or static elements.
Display Custom MessageShow a message inline based on the answer.
Redirect to URLSend the respondent to a destination after submission.
Disqualify LeadEnd the response and mark it as disqualified.
Jump To (Slide)Branch to a different slide. Surveys only.

Build a rule

  1. In the survey builder, open Conditional Logic from the top bar or right sidebar.
  2. Click Add New Condition and pick an action.
  3. Step through the builder: Select Field → Select State → Provide Value.
  4. Add more conditions on the same rule with AND (all must be true) or OR (any can be true). A single rule cannot mix AND and OR.
  5. Set the action result – the message text, the URL, the field to show or hide, or the target slide.
  6. Save. The button activates only when every required input is filled.

Supported survey fields

  • Single Line, Multi Line, Number, Monetary, Score
  • Date Picker, Dropdown (single or multi), Radio, Checkbox
  • Terms & Conditions (TnC1, TnC2), File Upload, Signature
  • Static elements: Text, HTML, Image

Calendar fields are not supported.

Jump To branching

Jump To rules fire on click of Next. The first matching rule wins. The builder blocks loops automatically (Slide A → Slide B → Slide A is rejected).

How rules evaluate

  • Rules run top-down in the list.
  • Redirect, Message, and Disqualify: only the first match runs.
  • Show/Hide: later rules override earlier ones.
  • Text matching is case-insensitive and ignores extra spaces.
  • Date logic uses the account timezone.

Tips

  • Use Between for inclusive numeric or date ranges.
  • Use date presets like Today or This Week for quick rules.
  • Filter the rule list by field or slide when you have many conditions.
  • Preview the survey end-to-end to verify branching.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I mix AND and OR in the same rule?
No. Each rule uses one connector type. Build separate rules if you need different logic.
What happens if more than one condition matches?
For Redirect, Message, and Disqualify, the first match runs. For Show/Hide, later rules override earlier ones.
Can I create loops with Jump To?
No. The builder detects and blocks circular jumps and shows a warning.
Why are my fields missing from the IF dropdown?
Each survey field needs a unique Query Key. Set a unique key on each field, then refresh the panel.
Does Conditional Logic v2 work on existing surveys?
It is available on newly created or cloned surveys. Snapshot transfers do not carry the rules across.
