Calendar Scheduling Conflicts in Sparkforge

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Check for Conflicts reads events from your connected Google, Outlook, or iCloud calendars and blocks those times in Sparkforge so users can't be double-booked. The Primary Calendar is where new appointments get written.

On team calendars (Round Robin, Service, Class, and Collective), appointments assigned to a user can sync to that user's Google, Outlook, or iCloud calendar. The reverse also works — Sparkforge can read events from those external calendars and block off the time so no one books over them.

Where conflict settings live

Each user manages their own calendar links under Settings > My Profile. Two settings drive the behavior:

  • Primary Calendar: where Sparkforge writes new appointments.
  • Check for Conflicts: which external calendars Sparkforge reads to block off busy time.

How Check for Conflicts works

Every Google, Outlook, or iCloud calendar the user has integrated shows up in the Check for Conflicts list. When a calendar is selected, Sparkforge reads its events and treats those times as unavailable. No appointments can be booked over them.

Check for Conflicts only reads — it never writes. If a calendar is disabled in this section, it's because that calendar is already selected as the Primary Calendar, where Sparkforge writes new appointments.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the same external calendar be both Primary and a conflict source?
No. The Primary Calendar is automatically excluded from the Check for Conflicts list to avoid the calendar reading and writing to itself.
What calendar types support conflict checking?
Google, Outlook, and iCloud are supported. Sparkforge reads events from any selected calendar and blocks off those times.
If I have multiple Google calendars, can I block them all?
Yes. Every connected calendar appears in the Check for Conflicts list, and you can enable conflict reads on each one independently.
Does this work for team calendars or only for personal ones?
It works for any calendar where users are assigned to take appointments — Round Robin, Service, Class, and Collective. Each user's Check for Conflicts settings control their own availability.
