How to Connect Basecamp to Sparkforge Workflows

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Sparkforge has a native Basecamp integration with instant webhook triggers and actions for projects, to-dos, messages, and documents. Connect once per sub-account, then build workflows that create Basecamp work as deals progress.

Sparkforge's native Basecamp integration reacts to Basecamp activity in real time and runs Basecamp tasks directly from a workflow. Use it to spin up projects, push to-dos, post messages, and store documents the moment a record changes in Sparkforge.

Available Basecamp Triggers

Triggers fire instantly via webhooks and enroll records into a workflow when the matching event happens in Basecamp.

Connect Basecamp

Connections are per sub-account. You must authorize Basecamp inside each sub-account that needs the integration.

Option 1: From a workflow step

  1. Open Automations → Workflows and create or edit a workflow.
  2. Click + Add Trigger or + Add Action and search Basecamp.
  3. Pick a trigger or action and click Connect Now.
  4. Sign in to Basecamp and authorize Sparkforge.

Option 2: From Settings

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations.
  2. Find Basecamp and complete the OAuth connection.

Build Your First Flow

  1. Go to Automations → Workflows in the target sub-account.
  2. Add a Basecamp trigger (for example, New To-do) and pick the project scope.
  3. Add Basecamp actions. A common pattern: Find Project → If Not Found, Create Project → Create To-do List → Create To-do.
  4. Add internal follow-ups like Notify User, Send Email, or Update Opportunity.
  5. Publish, then trigger a test event and confirm it appears in Execution Logs.

Common Use Cases

Form intake to Basecamp project work

Trigger on Form Submitted with a filter for the intake form. Actions: Create To-do, Create Document, Notify User. The submission becomes an actionable task plus a document with the answers.

AI kickoff brief on Closed Won

Trigger on Opportunity Stage Changed with stage = Closed Won. Use a GPT step to draft a kickoff brief from opportunity fields, save it as a Basecamp document, and notify the onboarding team.

Spin up a fresh list with a first task

Trigger on Form Submitted. Action chain: Create To-do List → condition → Create To-do. Each new request gets its own list with the first task already assigned.

Billing

Basecamp triggers and actions are premium and billed per execution under Workflow Pro tiers. Agencies can rebill sub-accounts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a paid Basecamp plan?
No. The integration works with both free and paid Basecamp plans, though Basecamp's own feature limits still apply.
Is the sync two-way?
No. The integration is one-way. You can trigger workflows from Basecamp events and run actions in Basecamp from Sparkforge, but bidirectional sync requires middleware.
Are Basecamp steps premium-billed?
Yes. Triggers and actions are premium and billed per execution at your account's standard rate. Agencies can rebill sub-accounts.
Can I create projects from a template?
Yes. The Create Project action supports template-based creation when templates are available in your Basecamp account.
Where do I troubleshoot failures?
Open Execution Logs to see the specific step error. If authorization expired, reconnect Basecamp under Settings → Integrations.
