The Task Added workflow trigger fires whenever a new task is created on a contact's record. Use it to notify the assigned user, update task-related fields, and start follow-up workflows without manual intervention.
What this trigger does
When a task is added to a contact, Sparkforge enrolls the contact in the workflow. Use filters to scope the trigger — for example, only fire when a task is assigned to a specific user.
Configure the trigger
- In the workflow builder, click Add New Trigger and select Task Added.
- Name the trigger, such as New Task Assigned.
- Apply filters to scope which task creations fire the workflow.
Available filters
| Filter | What it does | Required |
|---|---|---|
| Assigned User | Pick one or more users. The workflow only fires when a task is assigned to one of them. | No |
Example: notify the assignee
Goal: send the assigned user an email when a new task lands on their queue.
- Trigger name: New Task Assigned
- Filter: Assigned User is John Doe
- Actions: Send Email to notify the assignee, then Update Task Status to Notified.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the trigger fire for tasks added by automations?
Yes. Tasks created by other workflows or by integrations will fire the trigger the same way manual tasks do.
Can I filter by task title or keyword?
The built-in filter is Assigned User. For keyword scoping, add a workflow condition that reads the task title field and branches on a match.
Can I notify multiple users?
Yes. Pick multiple users in the Assigned User filter, or use workflow actions to send notifications to additional team members.
Does deleting the task stop the workflow?
No. Once the trigger fires, the contact stays in the workflow. Add a wait step plus a condition that re-checks the task if you need to abort on deletion.
