Publish Your Android White-Label App in Google Play Console

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Open Play Console, click Create app, enter the app name, default language, app or game, free or paid, and accept the policy confirmations. From there you complete store listing, app content, data safety, and the first release.

This guide creates a new app record in Google Play Console for your white-label Android build. After creation you complete the store listing, app content, releases, and tests.

Before you start

  • Google Play Developer account with Admin rights.
  • Decide on the public app name and default language.
  • Decide whether the app is Free or Paid at launch.
  • The public app name on Google Play can be changed later. The package name is set in your Android build and becomes permanent after publishing.
  • Stay signed in to the same Google account throughout to avoid permission errors.

Create the app in Play Console

  1. Go to Google Play Console and sign in with the account that owns your Developer account. Accept any updated terms if prompted.
  2. In the left menu choose All apps, then click Create app in the top-right corner.
  3. Fill in the Create app dialog:
    • App name — how it appears on Google Play. Editable later.
    • Default language — the primary language for the store listing. More can be added later.
    • App or Game — choose one. Editable later.
    • Free or Paid — choose the pricing type. You can change this before the first production release.
    • Declarations and confirmations — read and tick the required statements that you will follow Google Play policies and applicable laws.
  4. Click Create app.
  5. You land on the app dashboard. Use Set up your app to complete required items: store listing, app content, data safety, and initial release.

If you manage multiple Google accounts in the same browser, use an incognito window so you create the app under the correct Developer account.

What to do next

  • Store listing: add description, screenshots, icon, and graphics.
  • App content and policies: complete target audience, content rating, data safety, and ads declarations.
  • Releases: create an internal test to validate the first build, then promote to closed or open testing before production.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I rename the app later?
Yes. The public app name shown on the store can be changed at any time. The package name in your Android build is separate and becomes permanent once you publish.
Do I need a paid merchant account for a free app?
No. A payments profile is only required if you sell paid apps or in-app products.
Can I change Free or Paid after creation?
Yes, before the first production release. After your app goes live in production, switching pricing types becomes restricted.
Why use an incognito window?
It prevents the browser from defaulting to the wrong Google account, which is the most common cause of creating an app under the wrong Developer profile.
