Payment Plans on Sparkforge Invoices

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Sparkforge invoices can be split into installments by percent or fixed amount, with due dates on each split. Enable auto-pay to charge subsequent installments automatically.

What it does

Split any Sparkforge invoice into a payment plan. Each installment carries its own due date and payment status, with reminders sent on the due date if the installment isn't paid. The invoice closes once every installment is paid.

  • Split type: percent or fixed amount.
  • Due dates: per-installment, with automatic reminders.
  • Customer flexibility: pay one installment at a time or check additional installments to pay several at once.
  • Auto-pay: charge the saved card on each scheduled date without further action from the customer.

Set up a payment plan

  1. Open the invoice and click Add payment schedule.
  2. Enter the installment terms — percentage or fixed amount per split, plus the due date for each.
  3. Send the invoice. The customer sees the schedule on the invoice.
  4. The customer pays the current installment, with the option to pay additional scheduled installments at the same time via a checkbox.

Enable auto-pay on a single invoice

  1. Click Send on an invoice that has a payment schedule attached.
  2. In the send modal, toggle Auto-payments on.
  3. Choose the card to charge: the card the customer used for the first payment, a saved card on file, or a new card.
  4. Subsequent installments are charged automatically on each scheduled date. Review auto-paid installments in the transactions log.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I split an invoice by both percent and fixed amount?
Each split uses one method — percent or fixed amount. Pick the approach that fits the deal and apply it consistently across the schedule.
What happens when an installment is past due?
Sparkforge sends a reminder on the due date if the installment hasn't been paid. The invoice stays open until every installment is settled.
Can the customer pay multiple installments at once?
Yes. The invoice shows the full schedule and the customer can check additional installments to pay several at once instead of one at a time.
How do I set up auto-pay?
When sending an invoice with a payment schedule, toggle auto-payments on in the send modal and choose which card to charge for subsequent installments.
