Auto-Payment for recurring invoices on the Sparkforge mobile app charges a saved card or a customer card captured at checkout on every billing date. Card payments only — cash and manual entry are not supported.

Auto-Payment automatically charges a customer's card for each recurrence of a recurring invoice sent from the Sparkforge mobile app. Pick the charge source — a Saved Card on file or a Customer Card captured during checkout — and the system runs every future billing cycle.

Prerequisites

  • Recurring invoice created via the Invoices or POS module.
  • Customer payment method on file (Card on File or online card capture).
  • Card payments only. Auto-Payment does not support cash or manual entry.

Key Benefits

  • Hands-free collections: Payments run on each billing date automatically.
  • Multiple sources: Choose a Saved Card or a Customer Card captured at checkout.
  • Frictionless: No extra customer steps after the initial setup.
  • Predictable cash flow: Scheduled charges close revenue gaps.
  • Less admin: Set once during scheduling and stop chasing payments.

Payment Method Options

  • Saved Card: Any card already stored on the contact. Best for set-and-forget billing.
  • Customer Card: The card captured during Tap to Pay, Card on File, or online checkout. Useful right after a one-time charge that you want to keep using.

How to Set Up Auto-Payment

Start by opening Invoices or POS and creating a recurring invoice with a customer, items, and billing frequency.

  1. On the scheduling sheet, toggle Enable Auto-Payment.
  2. Choose the payment method: Saved Card or Customer Card.
  3. Confirm the selected card (last 4 digits show); use Change Card if needed.
  4. Tap Send or Schedule. The system processes payments on every billing date you defined.

Manage Auto-Payment on Existing Invoices

Open an existing recurring invoice (or convert a one-time invoice to recurring). Tap the three-dot menu in the upper right and select Manage Auto Payment. Choose the saved card or add a new one to enable auto-debit on future charges.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Auto-Payment support cash, manual entry, or bank payments?
No. On mobile, Auto-Payment is for card payments only.
Where do I turn on Auto-Payment?
In the Send or Schedule sheet for a recurring invoice. Toggle Enable Auto-Payment on and choose the card source.
Can I use Auto-Payment with POS?
Yes. When POS carts with recurring products convert to an invoice, enable Auto-Payment during scheduling.
What is the difference between Saved Card and Customer Card?
Saved Card is any card already stored on the contact. Customer Card is the card captured during Tap to Pay, Card on File, or online checkout.
What if a scheduled charge fails?
Update the card on file with the customer, select the new card, and the schedule continues. Keeping cards current reduces declines.
