How to Use Conversation Filters and Bulk Actions in Sparkforge

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Conversation Filters narrow the Sparkforge inbox to assigned, mentioned, tagged, or channel-specific conversations using AND/OR logic. Bulk Actions handle read/unread, star, or delete on the resulting selection.

The Conversations inbox runs hot once leads, automations, and customer replies are flowing. Conversation Filters narrow what shows up; Bulk Actions act on the selection. Together they keep a busy inbox usable.

Open the Filters panel

Click the Filters icon (three horizontal lines) in the inbox header. The Filter Builder opens on the right.

Filter types

Filter By Assigned

Show conversations owned by a specific user. Select Logged In User to dynamically scope to whoever is signed in — useful for shared Conversation Views.

Filter By Follower

Show conversations where a specific user is a follower. Followers see updates without owning the conversation. Logged In User works here too.

Filter By Mention

Show conversations where a user has been @mentioned. Useful for triaging items flagged for a specific teammate.

Filter By Last Message Direction

Inbound (from contact) or Outbound (from user or automation). Quickly separates conversations awaiting reply from ones already handled.

Filter By Last Outbound Message Type

Manual (a user sent it) or Automated (workflow or campaign sent it). Use this to find conversations that have only had bot replies and may need a human.

Filter By Last Message Channel

SMS, Email, Calls, Voicemail, Live Chat, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, or GBP. Multi-select supported.

Filter By Tag

Conversations associated with specific contact tags.

Conditions and values

  • Is includes matches for the selected value.
  • Is not excludes them.

Most filter types support searchable dropdowns and multi-select.

AND / OR logic

Within a filter group, AND requires every rule to be true; OR matches any rule. Across multiple filter groups, AND/OR toggles control how the groups combine — enough flexibility to express setups like "assigned to me AND tagged urgent" OR "mentions me AND last message inbound."

Bulk Actions

Each conversation row has a checkbox on the left. Select one or more to expose the Bulk Actions toolbar.

  • Mark as Read / Mark as Unread
  • Add Star / Remove Star
  • Delete (permanent — no recovery)

A select-all option appears once multiple conversations are visible.

Starred conversations

Click the star on a conversation to flag it as important. Starred conversations are accessible through the Starred inbox tab at any time.

Sorting

The sort icon (up/down arrows) opens sort options:

  • Latest All Messages — newest message on top, manual or automated.
  • Oldest All Messages — oldest message on top.
  • Latest Manual Messages — newest human-sent message on top.
  • Oldest Manual Messages — oldest human-sent message on top, surfaces neglected threads.
  • Longest SLA Overdue — most-overdue conversations first.
  • Next SLA Target — closest upcoming SLA deadline first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Conversation Filters update in real time?
Yes. The inbox refreshes the moment a filter is applied, removed, or modified — no page reload needed.
Can I save a filter combination for next time?
Filters are session-based today. Reapply them when returning to the inbox. Saved views are not yet supported.
What is the difference between Assigned and Follower?
Assigned is the primary owner of the conversation. Follower is anyone added for visibility or collaboration without taking ownership.
Can a single filter target multiple channels?
Yes. Filter By Last Message Channel supports multi-select, so you can target SMS and Email together, for example.
Are bulk-deleted conversations recoverable?
No. Bulk delete is permanent. Use star or unread instead if you only need to flag conversations.
