How to Redirect After a Contract is Signed in Sparkforge

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Sparkforge can redirect a customer to any URL after they sign a document or pay an invoice tied to a document. Set the rule globally or per document, with the document-level setting taking priority.

After a customer signs a Sparkforge document or pays an invoice generated from one, you can send them anywhere — a thank-you page, a scheduling link, an upsell, or a review request. Configure the redirect globally or per document.

1. Enable a global redirect

  1. In the left menu, go to Payments > Documents & Contracts.
  2. Click the gear icon (top right) and open Document Settings.
  3. Toggle on Redirect to a Custom URL.
  4. Enter the URL (for example, https://yourdomain.com/thanks).
  5. Choose Open in Existing Tab or Open in New Tab.
  6. Click Save.

Note: the global redirect won't override a redirect set on a specific document or template.

2. Set a redirect on a single document

  1. Open or create a document under Documents & Contracts.
  2. Click Settings > Document Settings.
  3. Toggle Enable redirection to custom URL and paste the URL.
  4. Pick same-tab or new-tab.
  5. Save the document.

3. Redirects after payment

If the document includes a payment step, the same redirect applies once the customer pays. If you've set a document-level URL, that one wins. Otherwise the global URL takes over.

4. Test before sending

Use the document Preview to confirm the redirect works. Document-specific redirects override global ones, so clear the document-level setting if you want every contract to share the same destination.

5. Common use cases

  • Thank-you page: confirm receipt and reinforce next steps.
  • Onboarding: send signers straight into an intake form or scheduling link.
  • Upsell: show complementary services or a checkout for an add-on.
  • Reviews: route satisfied clients to a review request page after a completion agreement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I turn on the global redirect for documents?
Payments > Documents & Contracts > Settings (gear icon) > Document Settings > Redirect to a Custom URL.
What happens if I set both a global redirect and a document redirect?
The document-level URL takes priority for that specific document. Every other document falls back to the global URL.
Does the redirect run after payment too?
Yes. If the document has a payment step, the same redirect fires once the payment is processed.
Can I open the redirect in the same tab?
Yes. Both the global and per-document settings let you choose between Open in Existing Tab and Open in New Tab.
How do I test a redirect before sending the contract?
Use the Preview button inside the document editor and walk through the signing flow.
