How to Onboard an RCS Sender ID in Sparkforge (Non-ISV)

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Create an RCS Sender ID in your Twilio sub-account, point its webhooks at Sparkforge's CPaaS endpoints, attach it to a Messaging Service, then share the Account SID, Messaging Service SID, RCS Sender SID, and Sender ID with Sparkforge to finish onboarding.

This procedure covers registering a Rich Communication Services (RCS) Sender ID through Twilio for use with Sparkforge. Carrier and Google approval of the Sender ID itself is handled outside this article.

Prerequisites

  • Active Twilio account enrolled in RCS.
  • Access to the Twilio sub-account where the Sender ID will live.

Step 1: Log in to the Correct Sub-Account

Open the Twilio Console and switch to the sub-account that owns the Sender ID. Sender IDs are account-specific.

Step 2: Create the RCS Sender ID

  1. Go to Develop > RCS > Senders.
  2. Click Create RCS Sender.
  3. Fill in Sender Display Name, Description, Logo Image, Banner Image, and Accent Color.
  4. Complete any additional fields Twilio prompts for and share the same details with Sparkforge.

Step 3: Configure Sender Webhooks

On the Sender's Configuration tab, set:

WebhookURLMethod
Incoming Messageshttps://backend.sparkforgehq.com/phone-system/cpaas/v1/messages/incomingPOST
Fallbackhttps://backend.sparkforgehq.com/phone-system/cpaas/v1/messages/incomingPOST
Status Callbackhttps://backend.sparkforgehq.com/phone-system/cpaas/v1/messages/statusPOST

Step 4: Create a Messaging Service

  1. Go to Develop > Messaging > Services. If Messaging is hidden, add it via Explore Products.
  2. Click Create Messaging Service, name it, and pick a use case.

Step 5: Configure Messaging Service Webhooks

In the Integration step, set Request URL and Fallback URL to https://backend.sparkforgehq.com/phone-system/cpaas/v1/messages/incoming with HTTP POST. Set the Delivery Status Callback to https://backend.sparkforgehq.com/phone-system/cpaas/v1/messages/status. Save.

Step 6: Attach the RCS Sender to the Messaging Service

  1. Open the Messaging Service.
  2. Go to Sender Pool and click Add Senders.
  3. Pick RCS Sender as the type, choose your sender, and click Add RCS Senders.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need carrier approval before sending RCS?
Yes. Carriers and Google must approve the Sender ID separately. Sparkforge configures the connection but does not control approval timing.
Can I use one RCS Sender across multiple Twilio sub-accounts?
No. RCS Senders are scoped to the sub-account that creates them. Make sure you log in to the correct sub-account before starting.
What method should the webhooks use?
All three webhook URLs (Incoming, Fallback, Status Callback) must be set to HTTP POST.
Where do I find the Messaging Service SID?
Open Messaging > Services in the Twilio Console, select your service, and check the Properties tab. The SID starts with MG.
