Sparkforge Phone SMS Messaging Policy and Compliance Rules

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Sparkforge Phone applies A2P consent rules, an 8-level daily SMS ramp, automatic DND handling on carrier errors, and bounce/error rate suspensions. Add opt-out language and Sender ID to every initial message.

Sparkforge Phone applies A2P messaging rules to every subaccount sending SMS through the platform. The policy covers consent, opt-out language, sender identification, daily ramp limits, and automatic suspension thresholds.

Core policy requirements

  • Consent (opt-in): Cannot be bought, sold, or transferred. Send only to contacts who explicitly opted in.
  • Revocation (opt-out): Initial messages must include Reply STOP to unsubscribe or equivalent.
  • Sender identification: First message in any conversation must clearly identify the sender.
  • Restricted content: No alcohol, firearms, gambling, tobacco, or adult content.
  • No filtering evasion: Misspelled keywords, snowshoeing, or other carrier-evasion tactics are prohibited.

SMS Ramp-Up Model (V2)

Subaccounts created on or after February 1, 2024 ramp through 8 levels. The ramp starts on the day of the first successful send, not signup date.

LevelDaily SMS limit
1100
2250
3500
4750
51,500
62,250
73,000
83,000+

How the ramp works

  1. Send the full daily limit within 24 hours.
  2. SMS sending is paused for the next 24 hours.
  3. After the pause, the subaccount unlocks the next level.
  4. Repeat through level 8.

One-to-one and Missed Call Text Back messages now count against the daily limit. Manual replies during a temporary restriction are not allowed.

Spam and DND error handling

Carrier responses on undelivered SMS automatically trigger DND at the contact level:

CodeMeaningAction
30005User inactive / number does not existTemporary DND
30003Unreachable, out of serviceTemporary DND
30004Recipient does not want SMSPermanent DND
30006Landline / cannot receive SMSTemporary DND
30008None of the aboveNo action

Replies of STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, or similar always set permanent DND. Customers can reverse permanent DND only by sending START, YES, or UNSTOP from the original number.

Opt-out language and Sender ID

The first outbound SMS to any new contact automatically appends:

  • Opt-out: Reply STOP to unsubscribe
  • Sender ID: Thanks, <Location Name>

Auto-append is suppressed only when the message already contains a complete opt-out instruction (e.g., Reply STOP to unsubscribe). Incidental use of the word "stop" in a sentence does not suppress insertion.

Customize the appended text

Sub-account → Settings → Phone Numbers → Advanced Settings → SMS Compliance.

Error and opt-out rate monitoring

Healthy thresholds for service businesses:

  • Opt-out rate: 0–1% is normal. Higher rates trigger warnings, then 24-hour suspensions.
  • Delivery error rate: Indicates dirty lists or carrier filtering. Crossing thresholds triggers suspension.

Suspensions auto-lift at 00:00 UTC. One-to-one conversation, test SMS, resend message, and Missed Call Text Back remain available during suspension.

What to do after a violation notice

  1. Stop all bulk workflows, campaigns, and triggers targeting non-opted-in contacts.
  2. Customize the opt-out language and Sender ID to match your brand and use case.
  3. Audit list acquisition. No purchased lists. No cold blasts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I remove the ramp-up model on my subaccount?
No. The ramp is enforced platform-wide and cannot be lifted on request.
How do I increase my daily limit beyond 3,000?
Once a location reaches level 8, contact Sparkforge support to request a limit extension. Approval depends on delivery health.
Can I reply to inbound SMS during a temporary suspension?
No. The 24-hour suspension blocks outbound SMS from every channel: manual conversations, workflows, and bulk actions.
How do I revoke permanent DND on a contact?
Permanent DND cannot be cleared from the UI. Have the contact text START, YES, or UNSTOP from the original number to opt back in.
Does the Sender ID and opt-out language apply to manual one-on-one SMS?
Yes, on the first outbound message to a new contact who has never messaged your number. Subsequent replies in the same thread skip the auto-append.
