How to Increase SMS Messaging Limits in Sparkforge
Sparkforge agency owners and admins can raise daily SMS limits from the Agency Dashboard (all sub-accounts) or per sub-account on the Phone Numbers page. Limits can be set by message or segment count.
Messaging limits keep your account compliant with carrier regulations and protect deliverability. High-volume sending without limits can trigger carrier filtering, account flagging, or suspension. This guide covers how to raise limits responsibly when your business needs more headroom.
What's new: segment-based limits
Agencies can now set custom daily and monthly messaging limits by either SMS count or segment count. Previously only message count was available.
How to increase messaging limits
Adjust limits across the entire agency (all sub-accounts) or for individual sub-accounts.
Option 1: From the Agency Dashboard
Apply changes to all sub-accounts.
- Go to Agency Dashboard.
- Open the Phone Integration page.
- Select Account Creation.
- Adjust the Daily Limit by either number of messages or number of segments.
This sets the ceiling for sending overall.
Option 2: From a specific sub-account
Use this when you only need to change one sub-account's limit.
- Open the sub-account.
- Go to the Phone Numbers page.
- Click Advanced Settings.
- Find the Message Limit field.
- Enter the new limit and save.
This overrides the default for that sub-account only.
Who can increase limits
- Only agency owners and admins can raise messaging limits.
- If your agency has been on Sparkforge at least 3 months and is not in trial, owners and admins can update sub-account limits directly.
- In all other cases, contact Sparkforge Support to request a limit increase.
Limit reached: banner and email alerts
- When a sub-account hits the sending limit, a banner appears on the Phone Numbers page for all users (agency and sub-account).
- An email alert is sent to the configured notification addresses.
Limitations and risks
Provider and carrier restrictions
Even when Sparkforge allows a higher limit, your messaging provider (e.g., Twilio) may enforce its own restrictions. Exceeding carrier thresholds can cause messages to be filtered, delayed, or blocked.
Suspension risk
Rapidly scaling or setting excessively high limits can trigger carrier compliance issues. Sub-accounts may be flagged or suspended for violating sending practices.
Deliverability concerns
Higher limits scaled too aggressively hurt deliverability. Carriers treat sudden volume spikes as spam-like behavior, reducing trust in your numbers.
