How to Edit Recurring Invoices in Sparkforge

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Sparkforge lets you modify the frequency, dates, and line items on active or scheduled recurring invoices without rebuilding them. Auto-payment changes trigger a notification email you can customize.

Recurring invoices in Sparkforge can be edited mid-cycle. You can adjust the billing frequency, shift start or end dates, swap products, and customize the email customers receive when auto-payment terms change.

What you can change

  • Frequency — switch between weekly, monthly, annually, or custom cycles.
  • Dates — update the start and end dates on scheduled invoices.
  • Products and services — add, remove, or replace line items on active or scheduled invoices.
  • Notification emails — when auto-payment is enabled and the amount changes, the customer gets an automated alert. You control the subject and body.

How to edit a recurring invoice

  1. Open Payments > Invoicing in your sub-account dashboard.
  2. Select Recurring Invoices.
  3. Pick the active or scheduled invoice you want to update.
  4. Change the frequency, dates, or line items.
  5. Click Save to apply the changes.

Customize the auto-payment notification email

  1. Go to Invoice Settings.
  2. Open Customer Notifications.
  3. Edit the Auto payment amount changed notification — update the subject line, message body, and any merge fields you use.
  4. Save.

Why this matters

Service agreements change. A client moves from monthly to quarterly billing, you swap one product for another, or a contract end date shifts. Editing the existing invoice keeps payment history clean — no canceled subscriptions, no duplicate records, no broken auto-pay.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will editing a recurring invoice cancel the existing subscription?
No. Edits apply to the existing recurring schedule. Payment history, customer records, and auto-pay continuations stay intact.
Does the customer get notified when I change the recurring amount?
Yes, if auto-payment is enabled. Sparkforge sends the Auto Payment Amount Changed notification automatically. You can customize the subject and message in Invoice Settings.
Can I change the frequency on an invoice that's already running?
Yes. Open the recurring invoice, switch the frequency to weekly, monthly, or annually, and save. Future charges follow the new cycle.
Can I add new line items to an active recurring invoice?
Yes. You can add, remove, or replace products and services on active or scheduled invoices without recreating them.
