Getting Started with Affiliate Automations in Sparkforge

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Affiliate automations in Sparkforge run on workflow triggers and actions. The five core ones — Affiliate Created, Add to Affiliate Manager, Update Affiliate, Add to Campaign, and Remove from Campaign — cover onboarding and lifecycle without manual work.

The Affiliate Manager exposes a set of workflow triggers and actions that handle the program's repetitive tasks. Set these five up and most onboarding and lifecycle work runs on its own.

1. Affiliate Created (trigger)

Setup: In Workflows, click Add New Workflow Trigger, search for Affiliate Created, select it, and click Save Trigger.

What it does: Fires whenever a new affiliate is created in the sub-account.

Example: Run a recruitment campaign. Each new sign-up enters your onboarding workflow automatically — no manual import required.

2. Add to Affiliate Manager (action)

Setup: Adds a contact to the Affiliates list with status set to active.

What it does: Once the workflow fires, the contact lands in your active affiliates list.

Example: A partner submits the affiliate application form. They are added as an active affiliate the moment the workflow runs — no waiting on an admin.

3. Update Affiliate (action)

Setup: Sets affiliate status to active or inactive.

Options:

  • Mark as Active
  • Mark as Inactive

Example: If an affiliate has not driven a sale in 90 days, a time-based workflow flips their status to inactive automatically.

4. Add to Affiliate Campaign (action)

Setup: Adds an affiliate to a specific campaign in the Campaigns tab. Pick the campaign from a dropdown.

Example: You launch a new product. A workflow drops every active affiliate into that campaign in seconds.

5. Remove from Affiliate Campaign (action)

Setup: Removes an affiliate from a chosen campaign. Pick the campaign from a dropdown.

Example: An affiliate stops qualifying for a tier. The workflow pulls them out of that campaign without admin intervention.

Putting it together

Combine these triggers and actions to onboard, segment, and clean up your affiliate base on autopilot. A common starter workflow: Affiliate Created → Add to Affiliate Manager → Add to Affiliate Campaign → send portal access email.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the simplest affiliate workflow to start with?
Affiliate Created trigger followed by Add to Affiliate Manager and Add to Affiliate Campaign actions, then an email with portal access. This handles end-to-end onboarding.
Can I deactivate affiliates automatically?
Yes. Use the Update Affiliate action with the Mark as Inactive option, paired with a time- or activity-based trigger.
Can one workflow add an affiliate to multiple campaigns?
Yes. Chain multiple Add to Affiliate Campaign actions in the same workflow, each pointing to a different campaign.
What happens if a contact is already an affiliate?
The Add to Affiliate Manager action will not duplicate them. The system updates the existing record instead of creating a new one.
