Automate Affiliate Lead Assignment in Sparkforge Workflows

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

The Lead Created trigger and Add Leads under an Affiliate action in Sparkforge workflows assign affiliate-generated leads to the right partner automatically. Choose Manual, Auto Attribution by URL, or Custom Mapping based on how leads come in.

Affiliate-driven leads only pay off if they get attributed to the right partner. The Lead Created trigger and Add Leads under an Affiliate action handle that without manual assignment.

Trigger: Lead Created

Fires whenever a new lead is referred by an affiliate, across all campaigns or filtered to one.

How to set it up

  1. Go to Workflows and click + Create Workflow.
  2. Set the trigger to Lead Created.
  3. (Optional) Use the Campaign Filter to limit it to one campaign.
  4. Add actions:
    • Send email to affiliate
    • Notify your internal team
    • Reference custom values from the Lead Created context in the message body
  5. Save and publish.

Use cases

  • Send a congrats email to the affiliate when they generate a lead.
  • Alert sales or support about a new affiliate lead.
  • Tag affiliate leads for nurture campaigns.

Action: Add Leads under an Affiliate

Assigns a contact to an affiliate and the affiliate's campaign. This is what credits the partner correctly inside the Affiliate Manager.

How to set it up

  1. Add the action Add Leads under an Affiliate to your workflow.
  2. Pick an assignment method (see below).
  3. Configure the fields the method requires.
  4. Save and publish.

Assignment methods

1. Manual

Hand-pick the affiliate and campaign in the action.

Best for: form submissions, internal routing, admin-driven assignment.

  1. Select campaign.
  2. Select an affiliate from the campaign's affiliate list.

2. Auto (Attribution via URL)

Reads the am_id URL parameter and assigns to the matching affiliate.

  1. Choose attribution method: First or Last click.
  2. Make sure the affiliate's URL passes am_id earlier in the funnel (form or page).

3. Custom Mapping

Reads am_id from a custom field or a workflow value.

Best for: API pushes, third-party form fills, hidden fields.

  1. Choose mapping source: custom field or workflow value.
  2. The action reads the value and assigns to the matching affiliate.

Use cases

  • Reward lead generation: Lead fills a form → assigned to the affiliate who shared the link → congrats email sent.
  • Custom nurturing: Funnel leads route to a specific affiliate for 1-on-1 follow-up.
  • Cut admin work: Replace manual assignment for teams managing dozens of affiliates.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I attribute a lead to the affiliate who shared the link?
Use the Add Leads under an Affiliate action with Auto Attribution. The action reads am_id from the URL and assigns to the matching affiliate.
What is the difference between First and Last click attribution?
First click credits the affiliate whose link first brought the lead in. Last click credits the most recent affiliate before the conversion.
Can I attribute leads from third-party forms?
Yes. Use Custom Mapping. Pass am_id into a custom field or workflow value, and the action reads it from there.
Will the Lead Created trigger fire for non-affiliate leads?
No. It fires only when a new lead is referred through an affiliate. Use the Campaign Filter to narrow it further to one campaign.
Can I notify both the affiliate and my internal team?
Yes. Add a Send email to affiliate action and a separate internal notification action in the same workflow.
