Coupon Codes in Sparkforge Calendar Bookings
Coupon Codes in Sparkforge calendars apply percentage or fixed-amount discounts on the booking widget. Validity windows, usage limits, and product or calendar eligibility all control redemption. Discounts show on the appointment's Payments tab.
Coupon Codes let customers enter a discount code during booking on the calendar widget. Sparkforge recalculates price in real time, and the appointment record itemizes the Discount (Coupon) line on the Payments tab. You control rules including coupon type, validity, usage limits, and eligibility by product or calendar.
Key Benefits
- Higher conversion: Timely discounts reduce checkout friction.
- Flexible promotions: Percentage or fixed-amount discounts for seasonal campaigns.
- Control and targeting: Limit redemptions per contact or overall.
- Better experience: Customers apply or remove codes with instant price updates.
Supported Calendars
- Coupon codes work across all calendars on Neo and Classic booking widgets and on Services (v2).
- Coupons are not supported on the older Service Menu (v1). Move to Services (v2) for ongoing support.
- Coupons apply only on the booking widget. Manual appointments created from the in-app modal cannot redeem coupons today.
How to Use Coupon Codes
Step 1: Enable Payments and Coupon Codes on the Calendar
- Open Calendar Settings → Forms & Payments.
- Enable Accept Payments. A linked product is auto-created in the Products tab with a Calendar tag (it cannot be deleted).
- Scroll down and enable Coupon Code. The booking widget gains a coupon input field.
Enable coupons individually for each calendar where you want them active.
Step 2: Create a Coupon
Go to Payments → Coupons and click New Coupon. Fill in:
- Coupon Code (custom or auto-generated).
- Coupon Type: Percentage (e.g., 10% off) or Fixed Amount (e.g., $50 off).
- Discount Offered: The value.
- Start & End Date/Time: Validity window.
- Limit Redemptions: Optional cap on total uses.
- Limit to Products/Offers: Restrict to specific calendars or products.
- Limit to One Use Per Customer: Prevents duplicate redemptions.
Step 3: Customer Experience
On the booking widget, customers see a Coupon Code input box. A valid code applies instantly with the adjusted total. An invalid code displays an error.
Step 4: Track Coupon Usage
Open the appointment and go to Payments. You will see the coupon applied, discount amount, adjusted total, and an attendee-level breakdown.
Update: Order Creation and $0 Transactions
After the December 22, 2025 release, calendar payments and coupons changed how orders, invoices, and transactions behave.
1. Invoice Creation
Partial-payment bookings no longer create a partially paid invoice. An order is created instead. You can still collect remaining payments against the order, and order-based tracking is now standardized across the platform.
2. Why You See $0 Transactions
Any order created from the in-app booking flow records a $0 transaction tied to order creation, not a real payment. It is not a charge.
3. When an Order Is Created
- Always when the calendar has payments enabled.
- Never when the calendar has no payments.
- Including when a coupon brings the payable amount to $0.
- Including when no payment is collected at booking.
4. Update Existing Workflows
Workflows that use the Invoice Created trigger need updating. Replace it with Order Created so they continue to fire.
5. Filter Out $0 Transactions
For workflows on payment triggers:
- Use the Payment Received trigger.
- Add an If/Else condition.
- In the If branch, set
Amount is greater than 0. - Run actions only in that branch.
This skips the $0 system transactions created at order time.
