Conversations supports common doc, image, audio, and video file types, logs 2-way email through a BCC that can trigger benign Gmail delivery errors, and only allows Instagram DMs after the contact messages you within 24 hours.

Supported attachment types

Conversations accepts these file types when sending or receiving messages:

  • Documents: .pdf, .docx, .doc, .csv, .xlsx, .xls, .txt
  • Images: .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif, .svg
  • Video: .mp4, .mpeg
  • Audio: .mp3, .wav, .wave, .aiff, .aif, .aifc, .gsm, .ulaw
  • Other: .vcf, .vcard, .pptx

Gmail "delivery incomplete" errors on 2-way email

If you BCC an address while sending from a 2-way sync email, Gmail may bounce a delivery-incomplete error back to you. The email still posts to the CRM correctly.

Sparkforge uses BCC to log outgoing mail to the contact record. Gmail does not return a delivery receipt for that BCC, so it surfaces the warning even when the message landed.

Why you can't DM Instagram commenters

Meta's policy requires the contact to send your business at least one DM in the last 24 hours before you can DM them directly. To respond to comments, use the Instagram Interactive Messenger action inside a workflow and set the reply type to Reply to comment via DM.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which attachment types are supported in Conversations?
PDF, Word, Excel, CSV, TXT, common image formats (JPG, PNG, GIF, SVG), MP4/MPEG video, MP3/WAV audio, and vCard plus PPTX files.
Why does Gmail send me a delivery-incomplete error from my 2-way sync email?
Sparkforge BCCs a logging address to record the email on the contact. Gmail does not get a delivery receipt for that BCC, so it warns you, but the message is still logged and delivered.
Why can't I DM someone who commented on my Instagram post?
Meta requires the contact to DM your business first within the past 24 hours. Use the Instagram Interactive Messenger workflow action and select Reply to comment via DM to respond instead.
Will the BCC logging error cause the email to fail?
No. The recipient still receives the email and it logs to the CRM. Only the BCC logging address triggers the warning.
