Quiz Scoring and Dynamic Results in Sparkforge
Sparkforge Quizzes let you assign categories and weighted scores to answers, then show different result messages based on score ranges. Use it for assessments, personality quizzes, onboarding surveys, and segmentation.
Sparkforge Quizzes go beyond right/wrong answers. You can assign weighted scores to each answer choice, group them into categories, and show personalized result messages based on the final percentages. The pattern works for assessments, personality quizzes, onboarding surveys, and audience segmentation.
Set up scoring on a quiz
Step 1 — Create or edit the quiz
- Open Sites → Quizzes.
- Pick an existing quiz or click + New Quiz.
Step 2 — Add questions
- Click Add Question and choose a type (Single Choice, Multiple Choice, Dropdown, etc.).
- Enter the question text and answer choices.
- Assign a score value to each answer based on weight.
Step 3 — Assign scores to categories
- Create your score categories (Category A, Category B, etc.).
- Map each answer's score to the right category. Single Choice and Dropdown use a fixed score per answer; Multiple Choice and Multi Dropdown sum the scores of every selected option.
Step 4 — Save and preview
Click Save Quiz, then use Preview to confirm the math.
How scoring works
Maximum score per question
- Single Choice / Dropdown: Max score is the single highest answer value.
- Multiple Choice / Multi Dropdown: Max score is the sum of every option's value.
How an answer counts
Every answer can contribute to one of three scopes:
- Overall Only: Counts toward the total quiz score, not any category.
- Category-Specific: Counts toward both the category and the overall score.
- Multiple Categories: Counts toward several categories at once.
Final score formula
Final Score = (Selected Score / Max Score) * 100
The formula runs separately for the overall score and for each category.
Example
| Bucket | Selected | Max | Final % |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overall | 90 | 130 | 69.23% |
| Category A | 20 | 50 | 40.00% |
| Category B | 20 | 50 | 40.00% |
| Category C | 10 | 50 | 20.00% |
Dynamic result messages by score range
Show different messages depending on the quiz taker's score percentage.
- Open the Result Page in the quiz builder.
- Define your score ranges (for example: Low 0–40%, Medium 41–70%, High 71–100%).
- Add a custom message for each range.
- Optionally add a CTA — subscribe, book a call, redirect to a funnel.
Sample copy:
- Low: "There's room for improvement. Here's how we can help."
- Medium: "You're on the right track. Here's how to optimize further."
- High: "Strong work. Let's talk about what's next."
Build the result page
The result page is built from sections you can add, remove, or restyle:
- Header: Logo, business name, quiz title, and styling.
- Overall Score: Total quiz performance with optional dynamic content per tier. Choose percentage, actual score, or out-of-10 format.
- Category Score: Per-category breakdown with optional explanatory text under each.
- Individual Category: Spotlight the highest or lowest scoring category. Use dynamic tags like
{{quiz_tags.highest_category_name}}and{{quiz_tags.highest_category_score}}. - Call to Action: Button linking to funnels, calendars, or external resources. Show different CTAs per score tier when needed.
- Footer: Disclaimers, privacy policy, social links.
Best practices
- Hide sections you don't need — clean result pages convert better.
- Match each CTA to its score tier so the offer fits the result.
- Preview on desktop and mobile before launching.
- Test edge scores (40%, 70%) to confirm they map to the right tier.
- Re-check category assignments if totals don't add up.
