How to Use Opportunity Notes in Sparkforge

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Opportunity Notes let you tie a note to an opportunity, a contact, or both in Sparkforge. Keep deal-specific context isolated from contact history while still sharing notes across entities when it helps.

Opportunity Notes attach notes to opportunities and contacts independently. A single contact can have multiple opportunities — each with its own dedicated context — without notes leaking between deals.

Enable Opportunity Notes

Go to Sub-account → Settings → Labs and toggle Opportunity Notes on.

What Opportunity Notes do

  • Entity-specific notes — write notes against a single opportunity without bleeding into the contact
  • Flexible associations — link a note to an opportunity, a contact, or both
  • Cleaner organization — keep deal-specific notes out of the contact history when they should not be there
  • Filtering — show only notes tied to a given opportunity or contact
  • Search — find notes by content across the workspace

Example: one contact, two deals

John Doe has two real estate opportunities — Property A and Property B. Sara, the agent, wants notes that stay specific to each property.

  1. Under Property A, Sara opens Notes, clicks Add Note, and writes the note.
  2. She associates it with the Opportunity (Property A) and the Contact (John Doe).
  3. She adds a second note, this time associated only with Property A — leaving John Doe off — for an opportunity-only note.

When Sara opens Property B, she sees only the shared note that links back to John Doe. The Property A-specific note stays on Property A. In the Contacts view, she can filter John Doe's notes by opportunity or contact to see exactly what she needs.

Add a note from an opportunity

  1. Open the opportunity in Opportunities.
  2. Click Add Note and write the note.
  3. Under Associated Objects, click Associate To and pick Opportunity, Contact, or both.
  4. Use the search to attach specific entities, then save.

Add a note from a contact

  1. Open the contact in Contacts.
  2. Click Notes, then Add Note.
  3. Choose the relevant associations and pick the right opportunity.
  4. Save.

Filter and manage notes

  • Use the Filter icon in the Notes tab on either Opportunities or Contacts to narrow by association.
  • Click any note's association indicator to view or change linked entities.

Best practices

  • Audit associations on important notes — wrong links break the filter.
  • Lead with the deal name in opportunity-specific notes so they read clearly without context.
  • Use opportunity-only notes for sensitive details that should not surface on the contact record.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a single note be attached to both an opportunity and a contact?
Yes. In Associated Objects, choose both the opportunity and the contact. The note will surface in both views.
Will an opportunity-only note appear on the contact's note list?
No. Opportunity-only notes stay on that opportunity and do not show up under the contact unless you add the contact as an association.
How do I find notes for a specific opportunity?
Open the opportunity, go to Notes, and use the Filter icon to limit the view to that opportunity's associations.
What if a note's associations look wrong?
Click the note's association indicator to edit linked entities. Adjust as needed and save.
Do I need to enable Opportunity Notes manually?
Yes. Open Sub-account → Settings → Labs and toggle Opportunity Notes on.
