Workflow Trigger: Video Tracking in Sparkforge

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

The Video Tracking trigger fires a Sparkforge workflow when a known contact watches a configured percentage of a funnel-hosted video. Use it for follow-ups, lead scoring, and re-engagement.

What it does

The Video Tracking trigger starts a workflow when a viewer reaches a specified percentage of a video hosted on a Sparkforge funnel. Use it to send follow-ups, score leads, or re-engage viewers who drop off.

Trigger name: Video Tracking

Description: Runs when a lead watches up to a specified percentage of the video.

Requirements

The viewer must already exist as a contact in the CRM before the trigger can fire. For new visitors, gate the video behind a form that captures their info.

How to configure

  1. Prep the video. Encode it for tracking and disable the progress bar in the video settings so seek-aheads don't skew the percentage.
  2. Capture unknown viewers. Place a form before the video so anonymous visitors are added to the CRM before they watch.
  3. Build the workflow. Open the workflow builder and create a new workflow.
  4. Add the trigger. Select Video Tracking from the trigger list.
  5. Set the percentage. Pick 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100%.
  6. Add actions. Send an email, send an SMS, update lead score, add a tag — anything the workflow builder supports.

Examples

Webinar follow-ups

  • 50% watched → send a thank-you email with related resources.
  • 100% watched → send a different email offering a consultation or discount.

Lead scoring

  • 25% → +10 points
  • 50% → +20 more
  • 75% → +30 more

Abandonment recovery

  • Trigger when a viewer watches less than 50%, tag them as Abandoned Video, and send a follow-up email with a link to resume.

Behavior notes

  • If no Video Duration % is set, the trigger fires whenever the viewer closes or finishes the video, regardless of how much they watched.
  • To fire when a viewer has watched at least X%, change the operator to Greater than or Equal to instead of Equals to.
  • Data is captured each time the viewer closes the video. With Allow Re-entry on, repeat viewers can re-enter the workflow when they hit the threshold again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Video Tracking trigger work for anonymous viewers?
No. The viewer must already be a CRM contact. Gate the video behind a form so visitors are captured before the video plays.
Can I fire the workflow on partial views like 35%?
Set the percentage to 25 and use the Greater than or Equal to operator. The trigger only checks against the configured threshold when the viewer closes or completes the video.
Will the trigger fire every time a contact rewatches the video?
Only if Allow Re-entry is enabled on the workflow. Otherwise, each contact runs through the workflow once.
Why is my percentage tracking off?
Disable the progress bar in the video settings. Viewers who scrub forward can artificially inflate the watched percentage when the bar is enabled.
