The Product Completed workflow trigger fires when a customer finishes a product — a course, training program, fitness challenge, or subscription term. Use it to send a congratulatory email, deliver a certificate, request a review, and pitch the next product while engagement is hot.

What this trigger does

When a contact completes a product you select, Sparkforge enrolls them in the workflow. From there you can run feedback surveys, deliver certificates, tag the contact for ROI tracking, and route them into the right next-step sequence.

Why use it

  • Engage at the peak. Completion is the highest-intent moment. Reach them while they're proud of finishing.
  • Automate follow-up. No more manual certificate emails or survey sends.
  • Capture feedback. Surveys sent at completion get the highest response rates.
  • Upsell the obvious next step. Recommend the related course, advanced tier, or renewal.

Configure the trigger

  1. Go to Automation and open or create the workflow.
  2. Click Add New Trigger and choose Product Completed.
  3. Name it descriptively, like Advanced Course Completion Follow-Up.
  4. Set a product filter. Use Is any of to include multiple products or Is none of to exclude specific ones.
  5. Click Save, run a test, then toggle Publish on.

Use cases

Post-course survey and upsell

Subscription renewal nudge

Filter on the membership term. Send a renewal email with a loyalty incentive a few days before the term ends.

Sales hand-off on enterprise completion

Filter on the enterprise training product. Update the CRM and notify the account owner so they can open an expansion conversation.

Digital certificate delivery

Filter on the event or summit product. Email a thank-you note with a personalized certificate attachment.

Fitness challenge graduation

Filter on the challenge product. Congratulate the user and recommend the advanced challenge with an early-bird price.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can one workflow handle multiple products?
Yes. Use the Is any of operator in the product filter to fire on any one of several products, then branch inside the workflow with conditions.
What if a customer completes multiple products?
The trigger fires each time. Use cooldowns or conditions to avoid duplicate emails when a contact finishes several products in quick succession.
How do I personalize follow-ups by product?
Build separate workflows per product, or use one workflow with If/Else branches that read the product field and route accordingly.
Can I combine this with other actions?
Yes. Pair it with Send Email, Add Tag, Update Contact Field, or Internal Notification actions to build a complete completion sequence.
What if customer info is incomplete?
Add a condition that checks for required fields and routes incomplete records to a manual review task instead of firing the email.
