How to Use the AI Translate Workflow Action in Sparkforge

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

AI Translate is a workflow action that converts any text from one language to another and exposes the result as a custom variable you can drop into emails, SMS, or notifications.

The AI Translate action converts text from a source language to a target language inside any workflow. Use it to send messages in a contact's preferred language without maintaining separate workflows per language.

What it does

Point the action at any text — static input or a dynamic variable — and pick the source and target languages. The translated result is exposed as a custom variable you can use in later workflow steps like Send Email, Send SMS, or internal notifications.

Set up AI Translate

Step 1: Add the Translate Content action

In the workflow builder, search for Translate and add the action where you want translation to happen.

Step 2: Configure the action

  • Action name — descriptive label, e.g. Translate Welcome Email to Spanish.
  • From language — the source language of the text (e.g. English).
  • To language — the target language (e.g. French).
  • Input text — static value or a custom variable from the contact profile or a previous step.

Click Save Action to add it to the workflow.

Step 3: Use the translated output

The translated text is available as a workflow custom variable. Insert it into the next action — typically an email body, SMS body, or internal note.

Example: French welcome email

A new contact submits a form and selects French as their preferred language.

  1. Trigger — Contact Created.
  2. Action — Translate Content (From: English, To: French, Input: Hello, thank you for signing up!).
  3. Action — Send Email. Use {{workflow_ai_translate_content.2.response}} in the body.

The contact gets a personalized welcome email in French automatically.

Tips

  • Pull the contact's preferred language from a custom field, not a hardcoded value, so one workflow handles every language.
  • Translate the subject line and body in separate Translate actions if both need conversion.
  • For high-stakes content (legal, medical), have a native speaker review templates before relying on AI translation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What languages does AI Translate support?
AI Translate supports the major world languages used in business communication. Set the From and To language fields by name (e.g., English, French, Spanish, German).
Can I translate dynamic content like contact replies?
Yes. Use a custom variable for the input text — for example, the body of an inbound message or a custom field — and the action translates it at runtime.
How do I use the translated output in the next step?
The action exposes the translated text as a custom variable like {{workflow_ai_translate_content.2.response}}. Insert it into any subsequent email, SMS, or note.
Does this replace having multilingual templates?
It can replace many of them. For boilerplate confirmations and notifications, AI Translate is faster than maintaining one template per language. For brand-critical copy, keep curated translations.
