Email Deliverability Stats That Actually Matter
Aim for delivered above 98%, opens 40-60%, complaints under 0.1%, and hard bounces under 2%. Track them at the domain and email level inside Sparkforge with Mailgun.
Sparkforge plus Mailgun exposes the full set of email stats most marketing tools hide behind open rate. Here is what each one means and what good looks like.
The ten stats and what they measure
- Processed — total message requests Mailgun received, inbound and outbound.
- Accepted — outbound messages Mailgun queued for sending.
- Delivered — messages the recipient mail server accepted.
- Opened — delivered messages that triggered an open pixel.
- Clicked — delivered messages with a tracked link click.
- Replied — delivered messages with a recipient reply.
- Bounced (Hard) — accepted messages that failed permanently due to bad addresses.
- Complained — delivered messages marked as spam.
- Unsubscribed — delivered messages that triggered an unsubscribe.
- Suppressions — accepted messages blocked because the address previously bounced, complained, or unsubscribed.

What to focus on
Delivered
Monitor at both the domain level and the individual email level. A low delivered rate usually signals reputation, authentication, and list-quality issues stacked together.
Opened
The decision to open hinges on the from name, from email, subject line, and preview snippet. Apple Mail Privacy Protection inflates iOS opens, so do not trust opens as your only engagement signal.
Clicked
Clicks are the cleanest engagement signal because the recipient took an action. If clicks are flat, the offer or copy is not landing.
Replied
Replies are gold for inbox-provider reputation. Ask real questions in your emails and route replies into a Sparkforge conversation.
Complained
Complaints under 0.1% is the line. Anything over 0.3% will tank reputation across providers fast.
Bounced
High hard bounces mean dirty list hygiene. Validate imports, never re-mail addresses Mailgun has suppressed, and prune cold contacts.
