A2P Registration Rules for Canadian 10DLC Numbers in Sparkforge
A2P registration is required for any Canadian 10DLC number sending SMS to U.S. recipients. Canada-only messaging may need A2P or Persona verification depending on when the number was purchased.
If you send SMS from a Canadian 10DLC long code number in Sparkforge, the registration rules depend on two things: where you are sending and when the number was purchased. Toll-free numbers are not affected by these rules.
Rule summary
| Route | Number purchased before March 26, 2025 | Number purchased on or after March 26, 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| Canada to United States (CA to US) | A2P required | A2P required |
| Canada to Canada (CA to CA) | No registration required | A2P or Persona verification required |
Messaging from Canada to the United States
A2P Brand & Campaign registration is required for every Canadian 10DLC number that sends SMS to U.S. recipients, whether the number is new or existing. Persona verification is not accepted for CA-to-US traffic. Complete A2P and wait for approval before sending.
Messaging within Canada
Numbers purchased before March 26, 2025
No registration is required for Canada-only messaging. If you later start messaging U.S. recipients, A2P registration becomes required.
Numbers purchased on or after March 26, 2025
You have two options for Canada-only messaging: complete A2P registration, or complete Persona verification if you do not want to do A2P.
What to do
- Identify your messaging route (CA to US, CA to CA, or both).
- Check the purchase date of the Canadian 10DLC number in your sub-account's phone management area.
- If you message any U.S. recipients, complete A2P registration in the Trust Center.
- If you only message Canadian recipients with a number purchased on or after March 26, 2025, complete A2P or Persona verification.
- Wait for approval before sending.
If messages are failing
Confirm three things: the destination route, whether the number requires A2P or Persona based on its purchase date, and your registration status in the Trust Center. A pending or rejected registration will block delivery.
