How Sales Velocity Is Calculated in Sparkforge Reporting
Sales velocity in Sparkforge equals total won sales value divided by average sales cycle in months. The average cycle is the sum of days each opportunity stayed open before being won, divided by the count of won deals.
Sales velocity measures how fast your pipeline turns opportunities into revenue. In Sparkforge agent reporting, it's a single number you can compare across reps, time periods, and pipelines.
The formula
Sales Velocity = Total Sales Value / Average Sales Cycle (in months)
Breaking that down:
- Total Sales Value — sum of the value of every opportunity marked Won in the selected time range.
- Average Sales Cycle — total time-to-close across all won opportunities, divided by the count of won opportunities.
- Individual sales duration — days between when an opportunity was created and when it was marked Won.
Equivalently:
Sales Velocity = Monthly Sales Value = Total Sales Value / Normalized Average Sales Cycle (in months)
Worked example
One rep had three opportunities marked Won in a single week:
| Opportunity | Created | Won | Days open | Value |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| #1 | Dec 1 | Dec 20 | 20 | $30 |
| #2 | Dec 15 | Dec 21 | 5 | $50 |
| #3 | Dec 21 | Dec 22 | 2 | $70 |
Math:
- Total Sales Value = $30 + $50 + $70 = $150
- Total Sales Duration = 20 + 5 + 2 = 27 days
- Average Sales Cycle = 27 days / 3 won = 9 days
- Average Daily Sales Value = $150 / 9 = $16.67/day
- Monthly Sales Value = $16.67 × 30 = $500/month
Sales velocity for this rep in this window: $500/month.
How to read the number
A higher sales velocity means more revenue per unit of time. You raise it by closing more deals, raising deal size, or shortening the cycle. Most operators get the biggest gains from cycle time — automated follow-up, faster proposal turnaround, and tighter qualification.
