How to Use the File Type Filter in Sparkforge Media Center

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

The File Type Filter in Sparkforge Media Center hides non-matching files and shows only the categories you pick — Photos, Videos, Audio, Docs, PDFs, or Other. It works across My Media, Google Drive, and connected libraries.

Media Center holds every asset you upload for Social Planner, Funnels, Email Builder, Communities, and more. The File Type Filter narrows that view to a single category so you stop scrolling past irrelevant files.

What the File Type Filter does

The filter is a dropdown in the Media Center toolbar (next to Sort). Pick a category and only matching files stay visible. The same control appears in My Media, Google Drive, and any connected external libraries.

File type categories

  • Photos — JPG, PNG, SVG, GIF
  • Videos — MP4, MOV, WEBM, AVI
  • Audio — MP3, WAV, OGG
  • Docs — DOCX, TXT, CSV, XLSX, PPTX
  • PDFs — Portable Document Format files
  • Other — ZIP, RAW, and miscellaneous formats
  • All — default; shows everything

How to use it

  1. Open Media Storage and find the File Type dropdown beside Sort.
  2. Pick a category: Photos, Videos, Audio, Docs, PDFs, Other, or All.
  3. Browse or run a search — only matching files stay visible.
  4. To clear, change File Type back to All, or switch sources (search persists, file type resets).

Smart context awareness

The dropdown grays out in sources that already hold one file type. Unsplash and Pixabay return only images, so filtering by photo is redundant — the control disables itself rather than producing confusing empty states.

Persistent search across sources

Search terms you type in Media Center carry across My Media, Google Drive, and external libraries. Refine results without retyping the query.

What it doesn't change

Filters affect what you see, not what you store. Storage limits and policies remain the same. The filter is desktop and web only — mobile filtering is not yet available.

Developer note

Backend filtering is exposed via /medias?type={photo|video|audio|doc|pdf|other}. OAuth-authenticated channels honor the type parameter and can return folders alongside files when a valid type is provided.

FAQ

Does the filter affect upload limits or storage?

No. It only changes what you see. Storage policies are unchanged.

Can I multi-select files across different types after filtering?

Switch back to All, then multi-select. Multi-select works only within the current view.

Why is the dropdown grayed out in Unsplash?

Smart Context Awareness disables the control in image-only sources to avoid redundant filtering.

Does my filter choice sync to other team members?

No. File Type is a per-user preference and resets per session.

Does "Docs" include Google Docs links?

No. Docs covers uploaded document files (DOCX, TXT, etc.). Linked Google Docs appear under Other.
