How to Connect Canva to Sparkforge Media Storage

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Canva Integration links one Canva account per Sparkforge sub-account so your team can browse, download, and import designs from Media Storage. Only the user who installed it can edit Canva files directly.

Canva Integration links a single Canva account to a Sparkforge sub-account so designs show up inside Media Storage. Once connected, your team can browse, download, edit (with limits), and import designs into My Media for use across Sparkforge.

What you get

  • Browse, open, download, and import Canva designs without leaving Media Storage
  • Import finalized designs into My Media so they reuse across Sparkforge
  • One connected Canva account is visible to all users in the location
  • Imports create independent copies so collaboration stays clean

How to connect Canva

  1. Open Media Storage.
  2. Click Connect Canva.
  3. Complete the Canva OAuth login in the new tab.
  4. Click Allow to grant access.
  5. Return to Media Storage. The Canva button now reads Connected.
  6. Pick Canva from the My Media dropdown to view, edit, and import designs.

Editing Canva designs from Sparkforge

Editing opens the Canva editor in a new tab. Access depends on who installed the integration and the Canva file's own permissions.

Supported edits

  • Canva designs opened from the Canva view (when Canva permissions allow it)
  • My Media files in PNG, JPG, and JPEG

Limits

  • Private Canva files cannot be edited.
  • Non-installer users see a view-only message and must import the file before changing it.

To edit, click the three-dot menu on the design and choose Edit in Canva.

Download and import formats

Exports follow the design's page count:

  • 1-page design → PNG
  • Multi-page design → PDF

Click Download on the design tile to save it locally. Use Import to Media Library from the three-dot menu to copy it into My Media. Imports are independent assets and do not sync with future Canva edits.

Multi-user behavior

The Canva connection lives at the location level, so access depends on the user's role.

Installer

  • Full edit access in Canva (when the file allows it)
  • Can import designs

Other users in the location

  • Can view, search, browse, and download designs
  • Can import designs into their own My Media
  • Cannot connect a different Canva account unless the integration is uninstalled
  • Cannot edit Canva designs directly (view-only)

Proxy users (Login As) cannot access Canva designs.

How to disconnect Canva

Go to App Marketplace > Installed Apps > Canva > Uninstall. OAuth access is revoked, Canva designs disappear from Media Storage, and previously imported files stay in My Media. A different Canva account can be connected after uninstalling.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Canva connected at the agency or location level?
Canva connects per location (sub-account). Each location supports one connected Canva account.
Can multiple Canva accounts be connected to the same location?
No. Only one Canva account per location is supported. Uninstall the current connection to switch accounts.
Why can I see Canva designs but not edit them?
Only the user who installed the integration has direct edit access due to Canva Marketplace constraints. Other users can browse, download, and import, but editing is view-only.
Are imported Canva files linked to the original design?
No. Importing creates an independent asset in My Media. Future Canva edits do not sync to the imported copy.
What format will my design download or import as?
1-page designs export as PNG. Multi-page designs export as PDF.
