How to Connect a Root Domain or Subdomain in Sparkforge
Add a CNAME pointing to sites.ludicrous.cloud (subdomains) or an A record to 162.159.140.166 (root). Then connect the domain inside Settings to a funnel or website. SSL is issued automatically.
Connecting a domain lets you publish Sparkforge funnels and websites at your own URL. The process is two parts: add a DNS record at your registrar, then connect the domain inside Sparkforge.
This article covers manual setup. If your registrar supports Domain Connect, the system can add records automatically.
Step 1 — Add a DNS record at your registrar
Choose one of the two methods below. Do not create both a CNAME and an A record for the same host.
CNAME (recommended for subdomains)
- Type: CNAME
- Host/Name: the subdomain only (e.g.,
wwwfor www.mydomain.com, orsubfor sub.mydomain.com) - Value/Target:
sites.ludicrous.cloud
A record (for the root domain)
- Type: A
- Host/Name:
@for the root, or your subdomain - Value/IP:
162.159.140.166
Cloudflare users: set Proxy status to DNS only. Sparkforge does not support Cloudflare's proxy on connected domains.
DNS can take up to 24 hours to propagate. If verification fails immediately, wait and retry.
Step 2 — Connect the domain inside Sparkforge
- Go to Settings in the left navigation.
- Open Domains & URL Redirects and click + Connect a domain.
- Click Connect on the Funnel/Website/Store/Blog/Webinar option.
- Type your domain or subdomain and click Continue.
For a root domain like mydomain.com, enter the root and click Add record manually. The system will offer to also add the www subdomain with a 301 redirect to the root.
For a subdomain, enter it directly and click Add record manually.
Step 3 — Link the domain to a funnel or site
Once DNS verifies, choose the funnel or website to attach, pick a default landing page, then click Link Domain. SSL is issued automatically and may take a few minutes.
Fixing the "CNAME / A record not found" error
This error means Sparkforge cannot find either a CNAME pointing your host to sites.ludicrous.cloud or an A record pointing to 162.159.140.166. Do not paste the whole string into one field — those are two separate options.
- Confirm where DNS is actually hosted (registrar dashboard or a lookup tool). Edit DNS at the right provider.
- Look for an existing
wwwrecord. Only one A or CNAME record should exist per host. - Create one of the records above with just the subdomain in Host/Name — never the full URL.
- For Cloudflare, set Proxy to DNS only.
- Wait for propagation, then click Retry inside Sparkforge.
Common SSL errors
- Multiple A or CNAME records exist for the same host — only one should be active.
- No DNS record was added for the domain.
- An AAAA record exists alongside the A or CNAME record. Remove the AAAA record.
Removing a domain
Go to Settings > Domains & URL Redirects > Manage, click the three dots, then Delete and confirm.
Checking DNS records
Tools like MXToolbox let you confirm A, CNAME, MX, and TXT records publicly. Use DNS Lookup to verify your record resolves correctly before retrying domain verification.
