Manage Developer User Accounts and Roles in Sparkforge

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Sparkforge developer accounts use role-based access control with three roles — Owner, Admin, and User. Owners and Admins can add, edit, and remove users; Users have read-and-build access without billing or user management.

Sparkforge developer accounts use role-based access control (RBAC). Each account has one Owner plus any number of Admins and Users, with permissions tuned to what each role needs to do.

Roles and what they can do

Owner

  • The first person to sign up.
  • One Owner per account — ownership cannot be transferred.
  • Full access to everything.

Admin

  • Same access as Owner, except cannot edit the Owner's profile.
  • Can manage other Admins and Users.

User

  • Build and submit apps but cannot delete apps, see earnings, or manage other users.

Add a user

  1. Go to Account > User Management.
  2. Click Add User.
  3. Enter the email and assign Admin or User.
  4. Toggle individual permissions if you want tighter limits than the role default.
  5. Click Submit. The new user gets an activation email and sets their own password.

Edit a user

Frequently Asked Questions

Can ownership of a Sparkforge developer account be transferred?
No. The Owner is fixed at signup. If you need to change it, contact Sparkforge support to discuss options.
What is the difference between Admin and User?
Admins have nearly full access including user management and earnings visibility. Users can build and submit apps but cannot delete apps, view earnings, or manage other users.
Can I tighten a user's permissions below the role default?
Yes. When adding or editing a user, toggle individual permissions off. The role sets the maximum; you can scope down from there.
Do new users need to set their own password?
Yes. They receive an activation email, follow the link, and set a password. After that the account is active.
