How to Add Authors to the Sparkforge Blog Builder
Add authors in Sparkforge under Sites > Blogs > Settings > Author tab before you can assign them to posts. Each author needs a name, photo, alt text, social links, and description.
Authors must exist in the blog builder before they can be assigned to a post. Set them up first, then pick from the dropdown when publishing.
Step 1: Open the blog settings
- Go to Sites > Blogs.
- Click the Settings (cog) icon on your blog site.
Step 2: Open the Author tab
In the left sidebar of settings, click the Author tab, then click + Add new author.
Step 3: Fill in author details
- Author name — displayed on every post.
- Photo — supports up to 10MB. Square 400x400 works well.
- Image alt text — describe the photo for accessibility.
- Social pages — links to LinkedIn, X, Instagram, etc.
- Author description — short bio.
Click + Create Author to save.
Important: locked fields after publish
Once a blog post is published, you cannot change its Category, Keywords, Author, or Slug. Set the right author before clicking Publish. A fix for this is in development.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I assign an author to a post before adding them in settings?
No. Authors must exist in the blog settings Author tab before they appear in the post-level author dropdown. Add them first, then assign.
Can I change the author after publishing?
Not currently. Author is locked at publish time alongside category, keywords, and slug. A future update will allow edits.
What size should the author photo be?
Up to 10MB is allowed. A square crop around 400x400 pixels at under 200KB looks sharp on most templates without slowing the page.
Can I add multiple authors to one post?
Sparkforge currently assigns one primary author per post. Co-authoring isn't supported in the standard flow.
