How to Revoke Course Access in a Sparkforge Workflow

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

The Course Revoke Offer action removes a contact's access to a specific course or community offer when conditions like an expired tag, failed payment, or cancellation fire.

What this action does

The Course Revoke Offer action pulls a contact's access to a specific course or community offer the moment a trigger fires. Common uses: expired subscriptions, failed payments, cancellations, or course-completion cleanup.

How to configure

  1. Choose the action — Pick Course Revoke Offer from the workflow actions list.
  2. Name the action — For example, Revoke Advanced Marketing Strategies.
  3. Select the offer — Pick the offer to revoke (e.g., Monthly Subscription).
  4. Set triggers — Decide what fires it: failed payment, subscription cancel, tag change, date reached, etc.
  5. Optional follow-ups — Send a notification email or apply a tag for future re-engagement.

Example

Pull access to Advanced Marketing Strategies when a contact's tag changes to expired:

  • Trigger: Contact Tag Changed, filter tag = expired
  • Action: Course Revoke Offer — offer Monthly Subscription, course Advanced Marketing Strategies
  • Action: Send Email — subject "Access to Advanced Marketing Strategies has been removed", template Advanced Marketing Strategies

When the tag flips, access is removed automatically. Only active subscribers keep the course.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does revoking delete a contact's progress?
No. Revoking removes access. Progress data is retained, so re-granting the same offer later restores their position rather than wiping it.
What triggers commonly fire this action?
Failed payments, subscription cancellations, expired tags, end-of-promotion dates, and course-completion events are the most common.
Can I notify the contact when access is removed?
Yes. Add a Send Email action right after the revoke step using a pre-built email template.
Do I have to pick a specific offer?
Yes. The action revokes a specific offer. To remove access to multiple courses, add a Course Revoke Offer step for each one or use a community offer that bundles them.
