How to Track Video Progress in Sparkforge Funnels

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Sparkforge can track how far each visitor watches a funnel-hosted video and fire a workflow when they cross a completion percentage. Encode the video, hide the progress bar, then add a Video Tracking trigger to a workflow.

Sparkforge tracks viewer progress on videos hosted inside funnels and websites, then fires a workflow once a visitor crosses a set completion threshold. Use it to follow up with people who finish a sales video, abandon a training, or hit a specific watch milestone.

Prepare the video

  1. Upload the video to your funnel and let Sparkforge encode it. Only encoded videos appear in the Video Tracking trigger filter.
  2. Open the Video element settings and turn off Show Progress Bar. Letting viewers scrub the timeline breaks accurate progress tracking.
  3. Set up a redirect for unregistered visitors so the workflow can match progress to a contact record.

Build the workflow

  1. Open Automation and create a new workflow.
  2. Add the Video Tracking trigger.
  3. Pick the funnel, page, and video element you want to track.
  4. Set the completion percentage that should fire the workflow (for example, 75%).
  5. Add the follow-up actions: send an SMS, email, internal notification, or pipeline update.

Tracking accuracy

Accuracy depends on having the progress bar disabled. If the bar stays on, viewers can jump ahead and the workflow will fire on partial views.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why doesn't my video show up in the Video Tracking trigger?
The video has to finish encoding before it appears in the trigger filter. Wait a few minutes after upload, then refresh the trigger configuration.
Do I have to turn off the progress bar?
You don't have to, but you should. With the progress bar on, viewers can scrub past content and the workflow will fire based on timeline position rather than actual viewing.
Can the workflow fire for unknown visitors?
No. Sparkforge needs to associate progress with a contact record. Use a redirect for unregistered visitors so the workflow has someone to act on.
Can I track multiple completion thresholds on the same video?
Yes. Build separate workflows for each threshold (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) and add different actions to each.
