Remove Associated Records from Workflow Action in Sparkforge
Remove Associated Records from Workflow unenrolls records that are associated with the trigger record — by object type and association label — from a chosen workflow. It works in Contact, Company, and Custom Object workflows.
Remove Associated Records from Workflow unenrolls related records (Contacts, Companies, or Custom Objects) from a workflow based on an association label. It runs in all workflow types and is the counterpart to Add Associated Records to Workflow.
How it differs from Remove from Workflow
The standard Remove from Workflow action only removes the current record (e.g., the contact in context). Remove Associated Records instead removes records that are associated to the current trigger record — based on the object type and label you select.
What you configure
- Select an object: the type of associated record to remove (Contacts, Dealers, Properties, etc.).
- Association Label (required for most setups): which associated records qualify. Does not apply to company-to-contact associations.
- Workflow: the target workflow to remove the records from.
Prerequisites and behavior
- Custom objects (or contacts/companies) and an association label between the trigger record and the target records must already exist.
- If no association matches the label, no records are removed.
- Removals are immediate. To re-enroll later, use Add Associated Records to Workflow or a separate automation.
Examples
Car ↔ Dealer (custom object workflow)
When a Car's status changes to Sold, remove its assigned Dealers from the Dealer Notification workflow so they stop getting updates.
- Object: Dealer
- Association Label: Assigned Dealer
- Workflow: Dealer Notification Workflow
Contact ↔ Contact (parent-child)
When a Student contact graduates, remove all linked Parent contacts from the Semester Start Notification workflow.
- Object: Contact (Parent)
- Association Label: Parent-Child
- Workflow: Semester Start Notification
Company ↔ Contact (company workflow)
When a Company's status changes to Inactive, remove all its Contacts from the Active Clients Communication workflow.
- Object: Contact
- Workflow: Active Clients Communication Workflow
