Outbound Calls with the Sparkforge Web Dialer (Softphone)

Click the green phone icon in the top bar to open the Sparkforge web dialer. Dial manually, pick a recent number, or search a contact — then mute, hold, or transfer the call from the same panel.

The Sparkforge web dialer (softphone) lets you place outbound calls from your browser instead of the mobile app. It works on desktop and mobile browsers as long as the microphone is allowed.

Place an outbound call

  1. Click the green phone icon in the top bar (visible on most screens).
  2. Choose how to dial: tap the keypad, pick a recently used number, or search for a contact.
  3. Click Call.

Manage an active call

  • Mute: turns off your mic. The other party hears silence from your end.
  • Hold: mutes both directions. Neither side hears the other.
  • Warm transfer: dial a second user or number, talk to them, then click Patch Call to bridge both calls together.
  • Blind transfer: redirect the call to another number and drop yourself out of it.

Troubleshoot outbound calls

1. Allow the microphone

Click the lock/site icon to the left of the URL bar and confirm the microphone is allowed. On Windows 10/11 and macOS, the OS may also need to grant the browser microphone access.

2. Disable interfering extensions

VPN extensions, ad blockers, and aggressive privacy tools can break audio. Open an incognito/guest window (extensions are off by default) and retry.

3. Set call timeout to at least 20 seconds

In Settings > Phone Numbers, edit the outbound number and ensure the Outbound Call Timeout is at least 20 seconds. Lower timeouts cause calls to drop before recipients answer.

Connecting tone vs. ringback

You may hear a short connecting tone before the normal ringback. Sparkforge plays it while reaching the recipient’s carrier. The familiar ringback only starts once the carrier confirms the destination is actually ringing. If the carrier cannot be reached, the call ends after the connecting tone instead of phantom-ringing forever.

Improve answer rates with Voice Integrity

If a call goes unanswered, Sparkforge may surface a Voice Integrity tooltip. Voice Integrity registers your numbers with major US carriers to keep them off spam labels, which improves pickup rates. Click the tooltip to start registration or open the Voice Integrity setup article.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are calls going out from the default number even though I am logged in as a user with an assigned number?
If the user role is User and only Assigned Data is enabled, the user dials out from their assigned number automatically. If the user has All Records enabled, they can choose the outbound number from the Calling From dropdown in the dialer.
Can I remove the 'this call will be recorded' message?
Technically yes, but most jurisdictions require a recording disclosure. If you must change or remove it, edit the per-number Phone Number Settings and adjust the recording prompt there.
How do I avoid being marked as spam on caller ID?
Register your numbers under Settings > Phone Numbers > Trust Center > CNAM. Voice Integrity also helps keep numbers off spam lists used by US carriers.
Where is the manual actions / power dialer?
Conversations > Manual Actions. Workflows queue calls into the manual-actions list, then you click through them — the dialer opens automatically with each contact.
Why do I hear a short connecting tone before the ring?
Sparkforge plays a connecting tone while it reaches the recipient's carrier. The standard ringback starts once the carrier confirms the device is ringing. If the carrier never answers, the call ends instead of fake-ringing.
