Geo Permissions for Outbound Calling in Sparkforge
Sparkforge auto-enables calling for the US, Canada, your business country, and any country where you own a number. To call other countries, send your Location ID and country list to support so the Phone team can adjust geo permissions.
Sparkforge restricts outbound calling by country to prevent fraudulent traffic that runs up bills and disrupts service. Calls are only routed to countries you actually use, and additional countries are enabled on request.
Why geo permissions are restricted
Compromised accounts are routinely used to dial high-cost destinations, generating thousands of dollars in fraudulent charges. Limiting outbound calling to verified countries cuts off that attack vector and keeps your spend predictable.
Countries enabled by default
- United States and Canada — enabled for every account.
- The home country listed on your business profile, unless it is flagged as high-risk.
- Any country where you have purchased a phone number. Owning a UK number from a South African business, for example, enables both.
Note: Automatic country enablement applies to voice calling only. SMS country permissions must be managed at the sub-account level.
How to request geo permission changes
To enable or disable calling for a specific country, open a support chat and provide:
- Location ID — copy from your sub-account settings.
- Countries to enable or disable — list each country and whether you need voice, SMS, or both.
Support creates a ticket and routes it to the Sparkforge Phone team for review. Most countries can be enabled; high-risk destinations require additional verification.
Sparkforge Phone vs. bring-your-own carrier
If you use Sparkforge Phone, all locations are pre-enabled for most countries except high-risk destinations. If you bring your own carrier, geo permissions follow the carrier's rules and your purchased number footprint.
International calling rates
Per-minute rates vary by destination. Higher-cost regions include the Caribbean, parts of Africa, and satellite-dependent territories. Sample rates:
| Region | Country | Rate per minute |
|---|---|---|
| North America | Bahamas | $0.293 |
| North America | Cuba | $1.015 |
| Asia | Bangladesh | $0.06 |
| Asia | Afghanistan | $0.32 - $0.415 |
Confirm current rates with support before launching outbound campaigns to international numbers — telecom pricing shifts quarterly.
