The cookie consent banner in Sparkforge funnels and websites lets visitors accept or decline cookies and gives you the tools to support compliance with privacy laws. This guide covers setup, customization, region targeting, and the cookie list.

Using this tool supports your compliance program. It does not guarantee compliance with any specific law.

Set up the banner

1. Enable the banner

  1. Open your funnel or website in the Funnels & Websites Builder.
  2. Open the page where the banner should appear.
  3. Click the Cookie Consent Banner Settings icon.
  4. Toggle the switch on or off.

2. Configure button actions

  • Accept Essential: accepts only the cookies needed for site functionality.
  • Accept All: accepts all cookies, including tracking and analytics.

3. Customize cookie preferences

  • Reject: accepts only essential cookies.
  • Cancel: closes the popup and reopens the main banner.
  • Save Preferences: saves the user's selections.

Customize the banner

General settings

  • Enable or disable the cookie list.
  • Pick a compliance type: Ask to Opt-In (Accept Essential + Accept All) or Don't Ask (a single OK button).
  • Set a description and link to your privacy policy.
  • Adjust colors, fonts, and text size to match your brand.

Advanced settings

  • Consent Expiration: set how many days before consent has to be re-asked.

Layout options

Choose a banner layout that matches your site (bar, modal, corner card, etc.).

Editable button labels

Every button in the banner and preferences popup is editable for branding or localization:

  • Banner buttons: Accept All, Accept Essential, Customize, OK.
  • Popup buttons: Reject, Save Preferences, Cancel.

Important: once you customize a label, automatic translations (i18n) are disabled. You'll need to add translations manually for every supported language.

Region-based display

Control where the banner appears based on visitor location:

  • Worldwide: show to every visitor.
  • EU & UK: show only to visitors in the European Union and United Kingdom.
  • Select Countries: manually choose the countries where the banner should appear.

Region targeting cuts unnecessary prompts for visitors outside regulated areas without weakening your compliance posture inside them.

Manage the cookie list

When the cookie list is on, visitors can toggle individual cookie categories.

Predefined categories

  • Essential: required for site functionality (always enabled).
  • Functional: social sharing, feedback widgets, etc.
  • Analytics: pageviews, bounce rate, session tracking.
  • Performance: site speed and UX optimization.
  • Advertising: targeted ads and marketing.
  • Uncategorized: anything not classified above.

Adding cookies to a category

For each cookie, define:

  • Cookie Key: the cookie name (regex patterns are supported for matching multiple cookies).
  • Duration: how long the cookie persists.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Sparkforge cookie banner make my site GDPR or CCPA compliant?
It supports compliance by giving visitors a way to accept or decline cookies, but it does not guarantee compliance with any specific law. Get legal advice for your jurisdiction.
How do I show the banner only to EU visitors?
In banner settings, switch the region control to EU & UK. The banner will only appear to visitors detected in those regions.
Can I rename the buttons on the banner?
Yes. Banner and popup buttons (Accept All, Accept Essential, Customize, OK, Reject, Save Preferences, Cancel) are all editable. Customizing a label disables automatic translations, so you'll need to add manual translations per language.
What's the difference between Ask to Opt-In and Don't Ask?
Ask to Opt-In shows Accept Essential and Accept All buttons so visitors choose. Don't Ask displays a single OK button — use it where law doesn't require explicit opt-in.
How do I make consent expire?
Open Advanced settings and set the Consent Expiration in days. After that window, returning visitors get the banner again.
