Send a Test Email From the Sparkforge Conversation Tab
Create a test contact, send the email from the Conversation tab, and verify delivery. Mailgun and SMTP integrations each have different sender configuration and reply-to behavior.
Create a test contact
- From Agency view, click the toggle in the top left to switch into a sub-account.
- Pick the sub-account you want to test in.
- Click Contacts, then Add Contact.
- Fill in First Name and Email, then click Save.
Send the test email
Sparkforge redirects you to the conversation page after the contact is saved. Click Send Email below the message area.
Configure the sender address
The sender field controls which address recipients see in the From line. By default it shows the email of the user logged in. Change it to match your verified sending domain for better deliverability.
If you use Mailgun
If you mask the sender as testing@gmail.com, the reply-to address resolves to testing@replies.subdomain.com using the Mailgun subdomain set in Agency Settings → Email Services → Location Settings. Replies still land in the sub-account's Conversation tab.
To improve deliverability, set the sender to an address inside your sending subdomain, like testing@subdomain.com. The reply-to domain then matches the sender domain. You can also turn on cold inbound email to capture anything sent to @replies.subdomain.com.
If you use SMTP
- Go to Sub-account Settings → Email Services.
- Copy the email integrated as the SMTP sender.
- Use that exact address as the sender in the Conversation tab.
Some SMTP providers support aliases or verified senders so you can send from other addresses: Google SMTP aliases, Zoho SMTP aliases, and SendGrid verified senders.
Troubleshoot delivery
If the test email doesn't arrive, check the spam folder first. Sparkforge displays errors from Mailgun or your SMTP provider in the Conversation view. Click the error icon for the full message.
If the error isn't clear, open a ticket with your SMTP provider for delivery status. For Mailgun, check the Mailgun logs.
If replies don't come back
Reply to the test email and confirm the reply lands in the Conversation tab. If it doesn't, work through the standard replies-not-returning checklist for your sender setup.
