How to Build and Schedule Custom Reports in Sparkforge

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Sparkforge custom reports let you build branded, multi-page reports from scratch or convert an existing dashboard, then schedule automated email delivery with custom date ranges, comparisons, and recipients.

Custom reports in Sparkforge package dashboard data into branded, paginated documents you can email to clients on a schedule. Start from scratch or convert an existing dashboard.

Timezone behavior to know first

  • Report builder date range — uses your browser's timezone.
  • Scheduled email preview — uses the subaccount's timezone.
  • Google Ads and Facebook Ads data — uses the timezone configured in those ad accounts, not the subaccount.

Step 1: Open custom reports

  1. Go to Reporting > Custom Reports.
  2. Click New Report.

Step 2: Choose a starting point

Build from scratch or convert an existing dashboard into a report.

Step 3: Open the report builder

Rename the report at the top so the file makes sense to recipients.

Step 4: Customize the cover page

The first page is the cover. Use Page Properties on the right to:

  • Upload your company logo
  • Configure per-page headers
  • Adjust the page background color

Step 5: Add widgets, sections, and themes

  • Click the + on the left to add widgets.
  • Use the Elements menu to add titles and section breaks.
  • Open the Themes panel to pick a predefined theme or build your own.

Step 6: Manage pages

  • Add pages with the + at the top or bottom of any page.
  • Click the Page icon to see the full list.
  • Drag pages to reorder; rename for clarity.

Step 7: Download a PDF

Click Download to export the current state as a PDF.

Step 8: Save, send, or schedule

Click Save, then choose Send or Schedule.

Step 9: Configure schedule and delivery

  • Frequency — daily, weekly, monthly, etc.
  • Time — exact send time.
  • Date range — the data window the report covers.
  • Widget-level date settings — keep per-widget date ranges and comparisons in the email.
  • Compare with — adds trend and comparison data.
  • Sender email — the from address.
  • Subject — email subject line.
  • Recipients — one or more email addresses.
  • Email body — optional message.

How saved values and email snapshots work

  • Report-level date ranges and saved filter values persist when you save.
  • When the creator clicks Save, those values become the defaults for everyone who opens the report.
  • Widget-level comparison ranges override the report-level comparison.
  • Scheduled emails use a snapshot of the report at send time. Later edits don't update emails that already went out.

Step 10: Send a test email

Test the email before scheduling so you see exactly what recipients will get.

Step 11: Save and schedule

Click Save and Schedule to lock in the recurring delivery.

PDF export note

Images and iframes render in the email preview but are stripped from the PDF export for security reasons.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which timezone does the report builder use for date ranges?
The builder uses your browser's timezone. The scheduled email preview uses the subaccount's timezone, and ad-platform data uses the timezone of the connected ad account.
Do scheduled emails update if I later edit the report?
No. Sent emails keep the snapshot from the moment they were generated. Edits only affect future sends.
Can I convert an existing dashboard into a report?
Yes. From the Custom Reports screen, choose Convert from dashboard instead of starting from scratch.
Why don't images appear in my exported PDF?
PDF export strips images and iframes for security. They still render correctly in the scheduled email preview.
What overrides the report-level comparison date range?
Widget-level date settings. If a widget has its own comparison range, the widget setting wins over the report-level comparison.
