How to Clone a WordPress Site in Sparkforge
Sparkforge clones a WordPress site by copying its themes, plugins, and content into a new, independent site. Agency owners, agency users, and account users can clone from the WordPress dashboard.
Cloning a WordPress site in Sparkforge produces a fully independent copy with the same configurations, themes, plugins, and content. Use it to spin up multiple sites with the same baseline, build a staging copy, or hand a templated site to a new client without rebuilding.
Who can clone
Cloning is gated by user role:
- Agency owners
- Agency users
- Account users (within the same sub-account)
If your role doesn't include clone permissions, the WordPress dashboard falls back to the standard new-site flow.
Clone a WordPress site
- Open the WordPress dashboard. Log in to Sparkforge and navigate to the WordPress dashboard.
- Start a new site. Choose Create New or select Blank WordPress.
- Open the cloning option. Click the Incomplete Setup card, then select Choose From Existing Site.
- Pick source and destination. Select the sub-account where the new site will live, choose the source site to clone, and enter a new website name.
- Start cloning. Click Clone.
- Watch progress. Real-time indicators show the status of the operation.
- Open the new site. Once finished, the cloned site appears as a standalone entry in the WordPress dashboard.
What carries over
The clone preserves the source site's configurations, themes, plugins, and content. Once cloned, the two sites are fully independent — changes to one don't affect the other.
