By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Buy WordPress hosting under Sites, click Create Site, fill in details, wait two to five minutes, and you have a working WordPress install with the Sparkforge plugin connected.

This walkthrough covers the first-time setup of a WordPress site inside Sparkforge — provisioning, the auto-installed plugin, domains, backups, and the most common errors.

Before you start

Use this guide if you are setting up WordPress for the first time, connecting a client-owned WordPress site to Sparkforge, or preparing a site to host the chat widget, forms, or other Sparkforge embeds.

The Sparkforge plugin

Newly provisioned sites under Sparkforge hosting get the Sparkforge plugin installed automatically. Confirm status from the Plugin Status indicator on your WordPress dashboard — it reads Connected or Disconnected.

Create a new WordPress site

  1. Purchase WordPress hosting under the Sites tab.
  2. Click + Create Site.
  3. Choose Scratch, Template, or Clone an existing site.
  4. Enter the site and admin user details.
  5. Wait two to five minutes for installation to finish.

You now have access to the WordPress dashboard, user management, backup and restore, and advanced settings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I add the same domain to two locations?
No. A domain or subdomain can only be attached to a single Sparkforge location at a time.
Why can I not change my primary domain?
You need to add an additional domain first. Once a second domain exists on the site, you can promote it to primary.
My DNS records are correct but the domain still will not connect.
DNS propagation can take a few hours. Verify there is no typo in the domain field, then wait and retry.
How often are WordPress backups taken?
Daily at 05:00 CST, with the last 30 days available for restore. You can trigger a manual backup any time.
