AI-Powered Custom Code in Sparkforge Workflows
Code with AI (Beta) generates JavaScript for the Custom Code action inside Sparkforge workflows. Describe the logic in plain language, review the output, and click Use Code to insert it.
Code with AI (Beta) generates JavaScript inside the Custom Code action of a workflow. Describe the logic you need, review the snippet, and insert it without writing the code by hand.
Generate Code Inside a Workflow
- In your workflow, add or open a Custom Code action.
- Click Code with AI to open the assistant.
- Describe the functionality clearly. Example: I have an API that returns a date in MM-DD-YYYY format. Convert it to YYYY-MM-DD.
- Click Generate. The assistant produces a JavaScript snippet and maps input properties from previous workflow steps.
- Review the output. Click Use Code to insert it, or click Generate again for an alternate version.
The more specific your prompt, the better the result.
Common Use Cases
- Data formatting — normalize phone numbers, dates, or names into a single format.
- API integration — fetch data from external services via HTTP requests.
- Math — compute discounts, interest, or other real-time calculations.
- String manipulation — extract fields like email addresses out of subject lines.
- Conditional logic — route leads based on rules that branch on contact data.
Notes
- Code with AI is currently in Beta and is available only inside the Custom Code action.
- Always review and test generated code before deploying to a live workflow.
- You can edit the generated snippet directly before saving the action.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to know JavaScript to use Code with AI?
No. Describe what you need in plain language. The assistant generates the JavaScript and maps inputs from prior workflow steps.
Can I edit the AI-generated code?
Yes. The generated snippet drops into the Custom Code action where you can review, edit, and test it before saving.
What if the generated code is not what I need?
Click Generate again for a fresh version, or refine your description to be more specific. Including the exact input shape and expected output usually fixes the result.
Does Code with AI work for every workflow action?
No. Code with AI is available only inside the Custom Code action today.
Will generated code work on the first run?
Most of the time, yes — but always test the output in a non-production workflow before deploying. Treat the snippet as a starting point you verify, not a finished build.
