Trigger Links in Sparkforge: Track Clicks and Fire Workflows
A trigger link is a tracked redirect that records a click on the contact's timeline and can fire the next step in a workflow — useful for surveys, unsubscribes, dynamic promo URLs, and more.
A trigger link is a tracked redirect URL. When a contact clicks it inside an SMS, email, GMB message, or FB/IG/WhatsApp DM, Sparkforge logs the click on the contact’s activity timeline and can fire a workflow step in response.
Supported channels: SMS, Email, GMB, Facebook DM, Instagram DM, WhatsApp DM.
Common use cases
Dynamic promo URLs in evergreen emails
Bind a trigger link to a Custom Value that holds the current promo URL. Update the Custom Value each month and the same email template now points to the new offer — no template edits.
Workflow steps based on clicks
Send a confirmation email with a trigger link. Add a Wait step in the workflow that waits for the click. When clicked, fire the next step — send a survey, request a review, book a follow-up.
Channel-specific unsubscribes
Set up unsubscribe trigger links per channel (SMS, Email, GMB, FB/IG). Clicking opts the contact out of that channel only — useful for clean compliance without dropping the contact entirely.
Engagement tracking
Use trigger links on tutorial videos, articles, or product links. Every click writes to the timeline so you can score interest by topic.
Event registration
Trigger links on RSVP buttons can confirm attendance and queue follow-up details automatically.
How to use a Custom Value with a trigger link
- Create the trigger link in Sparkforge.
- Assign your dynamic URL (the Custom Value) to that trigger link.
- Insert the trigger link itself into the email or SMS body — not the raw Custom Value.
Inserting the Custom Value directly will not fire the trigger or log the click.
Branding trigger links
Trigger links use the API domain by default. Set up your agency API domain to brand them. The domain is shared across every sub-account on the agency — per-sub-account API domains are not supported today.
SMS opt-out keywords
Carriers honor these opt-out keywords automatically: STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT. A reply with any of these unsubscribes the contact. To re-subscribe, the contact replies START.
