How to Use Tap to Pay in the Sparkforge Mobile App

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Tap to Pay in the Sparkforge mobile app turns your phone into a contactless reader. Connect Stripe on the web app, then charge cards and wallets directly from the Point of Sale screen.

Tap to Pay lets you take contactless card and wallet payments using just your phone. No reader hardware, no PIN pad, no signature.

Where It Works

  • US sub-accounts: available out of the box.
  • Other countries: available through the Beta program (links below).

Before You Start

  • Stripe must be connected on the web app first. Go to Payments > Integrations and click Connect with Stripe. If the mobile app shows Stripe not connected, complete this step first.
  • The mobile app location must be set to a supported country (currently US).

Charge a Customer

  1. Open the Sparkforge mobile app.
  2. Tap Point of Sale.
  3. Enter the amount.
  4. Tap + Note to add transaction details.
  5. Tap Charge (Amount). Wait for the reader to load.
  6. Add or skip tip. Custom for a specific amount, No tip to skip.
  7. Have the customer tap their card or wallet (Apple Pay, Google Pay) to your phone.
  8. Once approved, the screen shows Approved, Payment Successful with the business name and a transaction ID.

Supported Devices

Android

Any Android device with NFC running Android 8 or later.

iPhone

iPhone XS or later running iOS 16 or later (US).

Tap to Pay does not work on iOS Beta builds. Stay on the latest stable release.

Why It Works for Field Service

If you take payment on-site — home services, mobile detailing, in-home pet grooming — Tap to Pay removes the card reader from your kit. Charge directly to Stripe, log the transaction, and move on.

Contactless credit/debit cards and mobile wallets including Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Is Tap to Pay available outside the US?
Yes, through the Beta program. Join through the links inside the article on the help portal for your platform.
What devices are supported?
Android 8+ devices with NFC, and iPhone XS or later running iOS 16+ (stable, not Beta).
