How to Integrate Shopify with Sparkforge

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

To connect Shopify to Sparkforge, create a Shopify custom app with read access to orders, customers, and products, then paste the Admin API access token into Settings → Integrations → Shopify.

Connecting Shopify to a Sparkforge sub-account syncs customers, orders, and products so automations and abandoned-cart flows can work against live store data. The integration runs through a Shopify custom app and an Admin API access token.

Step 1: Create a Custom App in Shopify

  1. Sign in to your Shopify store and click Apps in the dashboard.
  2. Click Develop apps at the top.
  3. If prompted, click Allow custom app development and confirm.
  4. Click Create an app.
  5. Enter an app name (e.g., Sparkforge Sync), select your developer email, and click Create app.
  6. Click Configure Admin API scopes.
  7. Enable the following minimum scopes:
    • read_orders
    • read_customers
    • read_products
  8. Click Save in the top right.
  9. Click Install app, then confirm Install.
  10. Under API credentials, click Reveal token once next to Admin API access token and copy it.

Heads up: Shopify shows the Admin API access token only once. Save it somewhere safe before leaving the page — you cannot retrieve it later, only regenerate.

Step 2: Connect Shopify in Sparkforge

  1. In your Sparkforge sub-account, go to Settings → Integrations.
  2. Click Connect under Shopify.
  3. Paste the Admin API access token.
  4. Enter your Shopify store name.
  5. Click Connect.

The integration is live. Customers, orders, and products start syncing into Sparkforge.

What You Can Do Next

  • Trigger abandoned-cart email sequences against Shopify checkout events.
  • Drop Shopify product blocks into Sparkforge emails and pages.
  • Use Shopify variables in templates and workflows.
  • Run a full migration from Shopify into Sparkforge if you are consolidating.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a paid Shopify plan to integrate?
No. Custom app development works on every Shopify plan that allows app installation. Confirm custom app development is enabled in your Shopify admin.
Which Admin API scopes are required?
At minimum: read_orders, read_customers, and read_products. Enable additional scopes only if you need write actions back to Shopify.
I lost the Admin API access token. How do I get it back?
You cannot. Shopify reveals the token only once. Open the custom app in Shopify, rotate the token, copy the new value, and update it in Sparkforge.
Will historical orders sync?
New orders sync from the moment of connection. Historical data syncs based on the integration's backfill window — confirm scope of historical data with the Shopify-to-Sparkforge migration guide.
Can I connect more than one Shopify store?
One Shopify store per Sparkforge sub-account. Use separate sub-accounts for separate stores.
