Event Start Date in Sparkforge Campaigns
The Event Start Date anchors a campaign to a specific date and time so every email and SMS in that campaign fires relative to it — day before, hour before, or after the event.
The Event Start Date field in a Sparkforge campaign sets a single anchor date and time. Every item in the campaign — emails, SMS, follow-ups — then fires relative to that anchor instead of relative to enrollment.
When to use Event Start Date
Use it when you have one fixed event — a webinar, launch, in-person class, sale start — and want every contact to receive reminders at the same real-world moments regardless of when they joined the campaign.
How it works
- Open the campaign and set the Event Start Date to the actual date and time of the event.
- Add items (email, SMS, voicemail) inside the campaign.
- For each item, set timing as
Before 1 day,Before 1 hour,After 2 hours, etc. - Sparkforge calculates the exact send time off the Event Start Date for every contact.
Example: webinar reminders
Webinar is January 20 at 2:00 PM. Set Event Start Date to 2026-01-20 14:00. Add an email with timing Before 1 day and an SMS with timing Before 1 hour. Both fire automatically at the right time, no matter when contacts entered the campaign.
Workflows vs. Campaigns
Workflows handle everything Campaigns and Triggers do, plus more, in a single builder. New event-based automations are easier to maintain in Workflows. Use Campaigns with Event Start Date when you have a legacy campaign already running or a one-off event reminder series.
